I just got my XBox modified with X3 and 160Gb HHD!

Now what do I need to do to go Live? I read something about MS checking for the harddrive as well to see if HD was replaced. Is it true? Do I need to swich back to OEM HD? Also can I use duplicate version of the game for Live?

Thanks in Advance.

Ok, SEARCH then ask. But I'm in a good mood so I will enlighten you. First off. If you have been on live before with that xbox, then yes, you either need to switch the hdds everytime you want to play on live, or buy a new eeprom. If you have never been on xbox live with that xbox, then you are golden and MS will never know so long as you disable the chip when playing live (boot with chip disabled). Second. Your link to a pic didn't work. Third. You asked, "Can I use a duplicate version of the game for Live?". I assume by that you mean a backup of a game you own. No, by booting with the chip turned off, you are using the original MS bios, and that will not play copied games.
Hope this answered your questions. But we are all serious when we say SEARCH FIRST!!!

Thank you!

This is exactly what I needed. Thank you! My XBox was never on Live. I am good to go with my original Halo 2! P.S. I did some searching before posting this question. I will do a better job next time. Not sure why pic does not work in the forum. I just picked one of smilies.

Speak for yourself, I dont try to make myself look like a d**k to the n00bs/other people. We were all one once.

I wasn't trying to be a "d**k". Yes, we were all noobs once, but I searched when I couldn't find a solution to my problem. That's the way most people learn best when first being introduced to something, on their own. Also, most of these questions, I know this one for sure, have been covered dozens of times. So, there is no point in making another thread about a topic that is asked so frequently.

Not to mention the very first thing you see when you enter the forums is "Read Before Posting". Where the forum rules are made perfectly clear.

It's definitely not cool to flame people but gently directing to use the search button is actually helping people. They can find answers to their questions easily without having to wait for an answer. Making it less likely to screw something up.

If you don't have something positive to contribute to a thread then just don't say anything at all. Because your right, we were all noobs once!

I really hope that wasn't directed at me.
