So the 360 is $400.00 US for the HDD, Ethernet cable and some other crap... or you can get the 360 po' boy for $300.00 with xbox live silver and no HDD or whatever.

So what's the difference between silver and gold. It would seem that silver is going to be free and gold will have a monthly service. I think...

anyway, any informed guesses or wild conspiracy theories? :D

i think silver will allow you download content etc but not let you play online.

Matt

also, if you are able to buy a 360 without a hdd, where will the dashboard be?

Gold is the monthly fee Live service just like the currently existing XBOX Live, but if you already have a Live account for the current XBOX still active, then you can transfer it over to the 360.

SO silver is just to download patches and crap?

Yeah, and where will the saves and dash go if there's no HDD?

Also, maybe they will sell games on-line through silver!! That would be a nice exploit! :D

I dunno.. it doesn't say. But if I were to guess I'd say around 40 GB.

They sell the "Offical X360 HDD" for about $100.00 US and I figure it'd be just like Bill to take somthing worth $50 bucks, slap a microsoft sticker on it and charge people $100 bucks for it. :D

The HDD shipping with the 360 'full' pack is 20GB. There are no plans to release a larger one although a 360 with a 60GB HDD has already been spotted.

Bill Gates announced previously that the future is downloading games directly, doing away with the whole Blu-Ray / HD-DVD debacle.

They'll be offering something like that in the XBOX Live Marketplace where you can download arcade games, I want Joust :).

I just can't wait until its cracked and an exploit is released for the XBOX 360. Sadly, I don't think hardware add-ons are in favor this time around because on the specs of the 360 on the new www.xbox.com website, Bill Gates notes that there will be no external screws on the case, meaning you have to bust open your sexy 360. Look's like it's gonna' have to be software and memory flashing. :(

Dude, so many people want to hack this just for the sake of saying they did it. Never underestimate the power of those who can't stand Microsoft.

The way I see it, every time billy points out how awsome and anti-hack proof this system is will just make it all the more sweeter when it gets hacked.

It's like whenever any piece of software microsoft has ever produced came out and they rant about how great and secure it is... and then send out a service pack!

Even with no external screws there has got to be a way to open it for service work

It will only be a matter of time before those tools leak out to the public
You can only keep things secret for so long

A good solid tin opener should do the trick.

O.K
and WHAT makes you think that will happen?
there is still much time to pass between here and there,
Furthermore Mr gates has already said (as Martin pointed out earlier)
that he would like to have the delivery of future games done over the web,
You want it Buy it Download it play it,much like Computer software when you buy it it's bought so if you fill up your HDD delete it and Download it later,
Point is when there's A will Team Xecuter finds A way all we can do is sit back and wait but don't expect them to come up with somehing in the first week or even the first year

I'll wait a year....

What killer games are you waiting for that won't be there next year?

IMO... the X360 has nothing that warrents the $400.00 price tag. I mean, my Xbox can do most of what that thing can do when it comes to home entertainment... and none of the games look that special.

After playing it at Best Buy... I'm even less interested in it than before... I think it might be a lame duck untill some better games come out with it. Maybe M$ rushed the ship date a little too much.
