xbox live updates on banned console help

I heard there was a microsoft update On aug 9th that was needed to play Guitar Hero III...My xbox live was banned. Are we able to still D/L any updates for our console? Should the banning effect my updates in any way? Will the conmsole just update on its own? Or does the user need to accept it 1st?

all you can do is try.if it tells you there is a update say yes.see what it does.
i was thinking that you WOULD NOT be able to get on live at all.

Put your hard drive in a buddies unbanned console to get your update.

Anyway the minor dash update that was released for GH3 was only for the wireless guitars that will be sold. Wired guitars and the main game need no update.

Games that require an updated dashboard always include the needed update on the disc anyway. So don't worry about it too much.

thx for the responses: one more question....when I try to access live I get a msg saying web not detected... is this a block msg or is there a problem with my 360 ethernet connection...the connection is good..

If the connection was not detected (cable unplugged) it would just login to your profile without giving you an error message.

If it detects a network and can't connect for some reason, then it would give you that message
