Xbox Live with a Modded Box

I want to get the new Halo 2 maps off of Xbox live with my modded box. (X 2.3 Lite with switch, 1.0 box & new Hard Disk) Avalaunch, EvoX with Xboxdash renamed to accommodate for Avalaunch boot order.

That being said, can I just disable the mod with the switch and log into Xbox live and get the update and maps?

I have 2 month free trial to Xbox Live and want to purchase the Killtacullar pack as well. I have a retail Halo 2 disc and also have it ripped to my HD. I just want to get the update and Maps for use on Xbconnect, as I don't plan on using Xbox Live afterwards.

You shouldn't have any problems at all logging on with the chip disabled.
But when you do logon your eeprom and hard drive info are going to be recorded.

So...this means what exactly? Should I be aware of this does this effect my getting the update or maps? Will they know it's not the original drive?

What Floppy means is when you sign up for Xbox Live M$ take a note of your HD-NUMBER(correct if im wrong) and your EEPROM. so say if you in the time after you got the maps and got rid of live again. changed your HDD from the one you signed up to live with OR EEPROM (but god knows Y lol) that Xbox will get banned its the marriage Thoery (i think is stickied on this forum) or use the search Button on the marriage Thoery on the forums.
