XBOX Live with upgraded Hard Drive and X3 chip

I wanted to be clear on this whole Xbox live banning stuff. I havent installed my X3 mod chip yet and i have a 160 GB HD but havent installed it yet. But i have been using Xbox live. What do i need to do to make sure i dont get banned? I know i need to turn off the chip before starting xbox live but i also heard i need to change the serial number on the new HD to match the stock one. How do i do that? thanks alot!

The best way to do it is after you install your mod chip, copy everything from your old 10gig to your computer. Then take that one out and put everything onto the new HD. Dont connect to xblive unless you put the old hd back in. Yeah its a pain but that will keep you from getting banned.
