Ok I know there are a lot of posts about this, some waffle on - others are confusing, so I would like to know if I am liable to be banned on my setup.

I have a X3 Modded Xbox with a stock HD.

I have copied XBMC to the c:\ and made the X3 boot to xbmc.

None of the original MS Dash files have been changed or moved.

If I boot with the X3 off it boots to MSDash.

Can MSLive! detect the xtra files on the C:\ or am I safe ?

Well - I would have thought that some one would already have found out. If no-one knows it looks like I will have to be.

well no one got banned for having the xtra files with an x2 so i dont see you having any problems with an x3.

Well I now have the Starter kit, I put the DVD in, and it played a nice video telling me to put the disc in an xbox ! - it made me laugh at first.

Funny thing is, with the chip turned on it works ok, with it off it sees it as a movie disc, in fact if I take the remote out, it tells me it cant play the disc.

I am sure its just a faulty disc as the box plays all my originals with the chip off - but how strange it will play it with the chip on!

any ideas or some one had this before ?

dont worry you shouldnt get banned with dash files on c:, i tested it before but that was before the SECOND update on Halo2. I still think it wouldnt hurt but you should really keep all those files on F: or even E: to be safe...er.

If you want to add abigger drive do it now It will not be detected if you have never logged into xbox-live. Drive scanning is not a capability that M$ has currently. Read this... And you will understand how this works...This is the easiest link to understand.

You wont get banned with the files on C:\ (currently)
No definate answers as to what info MS is gathering.
I know plenty of mod's with dash files on C and working just fine with Halo 2 and Live.
BUT I have started putting everything on F:

haha better safe than sorry. and m$ could very well take the time and effort into scanning anyone who goes on live to see if they have dash files or anything "foreign" but as long as we cant log on with a modified bios, why should they care?? Is it because of that PGR2 stuff i've been hearing about? like ppl cheatin on live with that game.

FLASHING THE LITEON DRIVE without CK3, probe,ect.

I flashed every drive expect for the liteon drive. I got the Liteon DG-16D2S. I wanna flash it but i don't feel like spending $40 on a connectivity kit. I heard that you can flash it normally with jungle flasher without any extra hardware, and the only reason for the connectivity kit was to get the key and to identity the drive....but i don't care about that, i just wanna flash the drive. Is it possible without the extra hardware or do you really need it?

You need to know what firmware version it is. All Liteons are DG-16D2S

well, you could do the MRA hack with soldering
that doesn't really require extra hardware

just a resistor and some wire soldering

You HAVE to extract the key to sign the new firmware to your console, and you HAVE to have either a kit and probe or do the MRA hack to extract the key/ If you flash unsigned firmware, you will have an Xbox360-looking DVD player.

If you have a LiteOn with 73850, by FAR the easiest way to extract the key is with a connectivity kit and probe. The MRA hack is a PAIN, and really unneccessary with a 73850.

was just wonderin if there is an easyer way to do the series 8 v2 and series 9 yet has im not the best solder and i have a drive here just shouting for me to do it.

Team Xecuter just came out with a kit. It's got a two-point probe and some kind of conductive "glue". You still have to cut the traces to extract the key, but you repair them with the glue instead of solder. It's shipping next week.

i have the Maximus Xtractor i see there is a vampire probe out but still looks like you have to solder a little board on to the board.
