hey whats up. a newbie here, and this is an awsome site. my question is could i just solder a modchip into my xbox and play burnt games with just the modchip. i dont want to save any games on to the hard drive, i could just burn each game onto a blank dvd and play that game. thanks

You need to flash the bios, then you can play backed up games. As far as i know the X3 is the only chip that does not require a dash. Oh and i highly suggest you using the tutorials/guides up in the top right had corner to get questions such as these. Or use the the search option on the left.
couldent you burn it in your pc. i mean like rent a game put it into my pc (dvdr) copy the game and burn it on a blank dvd. would this work
no it wont work! Pc dvd drives can't read xbox media.

im sure there is a software program out there that will read and burn xbox games from your pc and then put it to a blank dvd. what program do u people use for stuff like this.
Here we go again! Ok im sorry but this is pissing me off, you ask a question and we told you exactly what and how your supposed to do this. On PC, executable are displayed by the extension of .exe on the xbox they are displayed by .xbe! There is a program but its only for Linux. At this point XBOX games/media can NOT be read on PC's
you're partly right but mostly wrong. its not the pc dvd drives that can't read them. thats just stupid.
Um k, how is it stupid, why is it that the only pc dvd drive that people use in there xbox is the samsung616? Its the firmware on each of the drives thats not allowing it to read. To have this bypassed you have to either flash the firmware or write a program to convert the unreadable xbe's to a readable exe.
what about dvdxcopy, it says it supports ntsc games? if still not then what do i need to mod my abox. can somebody give me a list of what exactly i need.

you don't need a hdd, you don't need anything else to play backups.

ya like gek said the only things you really need to play burnt games is a modchip and the bios for it.
so tell me this, where am i gonna find burnt games, you,s all said that its impossible to burn games on the pc dvd drive right. so if you cant burn a game off of a pc then where are you gonna get the game

2. new hdd (try a 200 gb)
3. Follow all the tutorials on how to get it all to work
4. you need a dashboard
5. you need dvd2xbox
6. you need to learn to freakin read what people are telling you
bottom line is you cannot burn xbox games on your pc. period. you can however copy xbox games to your xbox hdd using dvd2xbox. then you can play backups. i have more patience then some but if you make another stupid comment about burning xbox games with your pc then you need to be banned.

you transfer the game from your xbox to your pc over ethernet, then burn it to dvd. A normal dvd drive cant read the discs, you have to use the xbox drive to read them.
