I backed up 2 of my games yesterday with a stock hard-drive, X3CL, a PC, cross-over cable, a copy of Xboxripper V1.0.3. (installed on the PC), a copy of Quix (on PC) and Copy of FXP (on PC)
Link the PC to Xbox with cross-over cable, fire up the x-box into X3CL (press white button when booting up), Stick the game to be backed up in and then launch Xbox Ripper (make sure the IP address is changed to the one showing on Xbox and the user name and password is set to x3), Click Retrieve and then RIP. It copys all the files to a location on your PC, but not in a format that the Xbox will recognise. You then need to convert it to an ISO file using Quix. Then just "BURN AN IMAGE" to your DVD using NERO. Sorted.
XboxRipper says it will burn the disc to but it wouldn't recognise any of my DVD-R's.
One last thing, after each rip, if you only have a stock HD, you may need to FXP into your X/Box and delete the duplicate game files that have also saved to your xbox D drive (they are not in a useable format anyway).
Hope this makes sense..Pretty easy when you do it yourself.
