I have tried to read the nand by using the 3 nand-x methods and the lpt port method and with all of them I get "could not dectect a flash controller". Is there anyway it could be the xbox? And if so is it possible to read the nand anymore?

yes, It can be you got a cold soder joint or you corrupted the nand by doing a bad write of some sort.

Well I tried again and have redone my soldering about 20 times and when I try with another xbox it works fine. I bought it rrod so I would know if the nand is bad or not but I havent wrote anything to it

These little babies are poping up every where now days. Like I asked the last person with the same problem, do this and let me know the out come. Use a multimeter to test for continuity between ground and all points on J1D2, there should be no reading except for one point (yellow wire) and let me know what you find. While at it, check cross between the points themselves on J1D2 ....

Ok ill try that but I noticed that there is some thermal compound on the part of the wires where you plug it into the nand-x could that cause it to not be able to plug in far enough?

It's not your NAND-X, it's the board it self. You yourself stated that it works fine with another console but not this one. If there is any residue of thermal paste then clean it but I doubt it's the cause of the problem.

ok but now when I try it with any console it says that so I'm starting to think it is the nand-x and so how am I supposed to clean it?

Did you check the points I mentioned with a multimeter by any chance yet?
