So has anyone here done the removal of the collector ?
I am sure some of you have. I read the tutorial from http://www.llamma.com/xbox/Repairs/1.6_Xbox_no_power.htm
The install and i quote
To install I found a good set of tweezers essential for positioning it. For installation and an x-acto knife easies removal. With the tip of Gently pry up on the single conductor sice, heat the side with the single conductor and bend it upwards then repeat on the other side with the dual contacts. Installing was fairly easy as well once it is properly positioned, solder the single contact at a low temperature and continue on to the side with dual contacts once positioned properly.
This seems fairly easy, does anyone have other easier ideas to share with me ?

I opted to desolder the transistor. Use a very small jewelers screwdriver to lift the transistor up while you apply a 15watt or less soldering iron to each "leg" of the transistor. In most cases there is plenty of solder left behind to intall the new component.

So taking this piece off is fairly easy ? It sounds like it is.
