I got banned from xbox live, wasnt really bothered because I already had 2 backup eeproms, I have a 1.6 xbox and x3 with the latest bios. I got configmagic, and installed one of the eeproms, and shutdown the xbox, once I tried to boot it back up, I get a red x3 led, then eventually turns blue as if the chip is on, and the eject led is solid green, yet nothing is on my TV. Trying to disable the modchip or enable is just simple wont work. Seems the xbox is dead, even tho I hear it. I am guessing I installed a different version eeprom, or something went wrong during the eeprom install, if anyone knows how to fix this I would appricate it thanks.

Not a lot you can do now - there's nothing to embed an EEPROM into a 1.6 BIOS as yet.

How did you try and Flash the EEPROM with configmagic 1.6?

yes, went to the usual spot and got configmagic 1.6 and installed it.. put the eeprom on and viola. I was thinking.. I noticed a previous post you were saying to do something with a programmer, would that apply to my situation, or should I just say f*ck it and get *another* xbox, my 3rd ?

You cannot program the EEPROM externally on the 1.6 - maybe someone will write a program to allow the EEPROM to be embedded into a BIOS for 1.6, but at the moment there isn't one. XBTool does for 1.0-1.5 Xboxes, but obviously won't touch a 1.6 BIOS.

How about this...
I noticed that in a previous post with the exact same problem, the guy said his HD was unlocked, mines is locked, and I do know the password since I used configmagic to update the eeprom. If I unlocked it and was able to get back to the flashbios screen, is there something I Could possibly do from there, this cant be the end, someone has had to made it past this problem.

Thanks for any and all help in advance.

There was a utility written to patch an EEPROM using a version of Cromwell. However, this hasn't gone as far as to be utilised on the 1.6 Xbox.

Until such a tool is written, your 1.6 is not much more use than a doorstop.

Another option,
My brother has a 1.1 xbox with a xenium chip, I was wondering if I plugged his in on mine, and restored the eeprom that way, since the xenium has an OS level. I know the xenium doesnt work with non soldered pinheaders, but my x3 is soldered in, really all im wondering is if the points are the same, or when soldering these chips they use the same points to make it all work.

Well, just for an update, it didnt work, I dont think the solder points are the same. As Mister C said, looks like I have an expensive doorstop/paperweight/frisbee.

Fsking sucks..

Maybe not....

I've just been looking at an interesting thread on Xbox-Scene.com

WARNING - Please do not blame me if this does not work, or causes your working Xbox to stop working!!!

There's an unofficial FlashBIOS 3.0.1 that a chip called Shepd has compiled with the option to reflash the EEPROM.

You cannot change the EEPROM (as it's in the source code), but it should work enough for you to get the Xbox up and running again. It has been tested on a 1.6 also.

here's the link from Xbox-scene.com

http://www.soiledbinaries.com/flashbios/cromwell-3.0.1-unauthorized/image.bin

Download this 256k BIOS file and flash to a 256k Bank on your X3. I'm guessing you can still get to the backup FlashBIOS file in order to flash another BIOS to your chip.

Boot from the 256k bank you've flashed it to and select the option to reflash the EEPROM.

Again, many thanks to Shepd on Xbox-Scene.com

If you get this to fix your Xbox 1.6, then it's him you should be thanking, not me!!!

Now thats an awesome find, could you please also post the thread for me if possible, and are there any options for me if I CANT get to my backup rom, the chip does some funky blinking and just never goes to the backup rom, should I plug the HD in my box and try unlocking it, think that'll help, I do know the password for it, and I have the tool to do it.

Ok, just got done trying that..
status every other bank besides banks 1-4 and the 2mb banks FRAG, it wont boot into the msdash. Only bank 8 loads with that cromwell bios you recommended and it gives a unknown flash, halting! error when trying to flash.. I've tried a diff stock xbox HD, different browsers, almost everything I can think of, besides sending the chip back.. any other suggestions ?

Negative, in the forums where I got this cromwell bios he says it will not allow the MS dash to load with this bios on it, i'd have to flash over it, and that being one of my issues is flashing anything..

Have you actually successfully flashed the BIOS with your patched cromwell EEPROM BIOS??

Yes, and atm it's the ONLY bios that will load up, including backup. It gives me a unknown flash, halting! error, flash protect is off, so thats not it, all other banks frag except 1-4, and the 2mb banks, bank 8 is where the cromwell bios is. Seems like all i'd have to do is somehow get this bios is recognize my flash and i'd be fine. I am just having trouble doing that.
