This Xbox One has a blank hard drive in it (formatted in J-Runner). I was able to use a USB drive with an update on it to start up the console, which got to "applying update" and got stuck about 3/4 of the way through. After being forced to reboot the console it has shown neither the green boot animation or an update screen since. I've tried the Offline System Update Diagnostic Tool OSUDT2 as well as an update I found elsewhere (6.2.11785.0) and both are rejected with a power down tone and an E101 error. If the console is not booted from a USB it goes to an E102 error after hanging at a black screen about a minute.

Basically, I'm asking if there's any way to get this console working without it's original hard drive. It seemed to work at first then got stuck and is refusing all update files.

Its not supposed to have a blank harddrive, youre supposed to copy some files from your original hdd before putting the new one in.
What happened to the original drive? Get the files from someone elses hdd, it will probably work.

I don't have another Xbox One I can take apart for files. Any better solution? I couldn't find them online anywhere. I know it's not supposed to have a blank HDD, which is why I used the Offline System Update Diagnostic Tool to install the OS.
So far I've gotten the console to accept an update, but error about a quarter way through. Preparing Console completes fine, reboots, then fails applying update with an E102 error.

Unfortunately I never had the original drive, as I bought it without. I managed to get the console very cheap hoping it was possible to fix it at this point in the console's lifetime. I'm using a 1 terabyte Western Digital laptop drive.

You could post a request for the files, maybe someone that did the upgrade have the files saved. Unfortunately I haven't had the luck to fiddle with empty hard drives on xbone yet.

This folder (https://mega.nz/#F!AMhWXbTa) contains everything that should be in the System Update Partition. Folder A, Folder B, and Updater.xvd.
