xbox powers off after 10 minutes of gameplay

i have an xbox 1 which just powers off after 10 minutes game play, then it wont turn on, after 1-2 hours if will turn on but for 5 seconds. i need to leave it for a day then it will turn back on properly. i opened it up after it cut off the heat sinks were warm not hot and the fan is working so whats the problem? thanks, Sajuk101

The front light will go orange when it is overheating, but I don't think it ever cuts your power off, even if it's overheating. You may have something wrong with your power supply. Have you taken out the power supply and checked the notorious poor solder joints on the bottom of the psu board, near the mains at the back (where the cable plugs in at the back ).

thanks for the reply, Ive looked at the back nothing seems burnt out. is there anything else i should be looking for?

I have had a similar situation with my xbox that would have trouble turning on or staying on. It was indeed my power supply unit that had the problem. Mine was not burnt out and also did not have a burned fuse. As textbook stated, it involved the notorious poor solder joints on the PSU. One of the joints at the end of the black power plug had 'cracked' off. From physical inspection, it would be difficult to see the cracked off solder joint. I 'wiggled' the black power plug and that is how I discovered the cracked joint. To fix it was simply reheating the joint with a soldering iron.
