Xbox slim kinect wont work help needed.

Hi,my friend was able to purchase last dec. An xbox slim Unit thats hacked w/lt2.0 & 13599 dash. Everything worked fine until one of his cousin updated his console to dash 14699 thru live. After the update i was suprise that xgd3 backups still works coz from my experience only non xgd3 games will work & all xgd3 backups wont work anymore.

Anyways,we where glad that xgd3 games still work on metro 14699 dash except for the kinect sensor that wont work anymore coz its asking for an update. I think there's no avatar on his unit.

My question is how can we update the kinect w/o going to live? Or any other ideas how i can make it work?

What's the exact error message and what are the options available?

I plugged a Kinect into my RGH Slim on dash 14719 yesterday and it asked for an update too. I accepted and it updated without a disc in the drive and not connected to Live (obviously).

The console updates the sensor fw so in my experience of above would say you are ok to update

This appears on the screen "A system update is required to use kinect,to get the update,sign in to xbox live. For more info visit www.xbox.com/update." there's no question asking me if ill accept an update.

I thinking of updating his unit on 14179 but im afraid that his xgd3 backups might not work anymore. I was able to download the 14699 update. Do you think i can try updating with that? Would it still accept the update eventhough im on 14699 dash already?

Yes, just apply the 14699 update again and the avatars will be applied along with the kinect software.

I asked about the message as sometimes the kinect itself needs to be updated.

Thanks martin il try it out tom. Do u think if i re-apply the 14699 update,would it install the silent dae.bin update & blick xgd3 games?

the silent dae.bin doesn't apply any more once you're on 14699 or higher. That was only for 13604. All XGD3 and XGD2 AP25 games must now comply.
