GENERAL Xbox Slim Upgrade questions

Hi All,

I've bought an xbox a year ago, and it came with LT+ 1.1
Now I've seen i need to upgrade to LT+ 2.0 to play xgd3 so i called to the store to see how much it will cost to upgrade, and they wanted 100$ which is alot!

so i've decided to buy the kit and try it on my own.
Now i start reading.. and seen videos and all of that made me confused!

so i have a few questions:
1. I've seen movies of how to disamble that won't be a problem.
2. by looking at guides and such i've released i have Lite-On for sure. (since its xbox slim) and by looking on serial ( which is 2736xxxx2905) i have 9504 or 0255. (Manf date is 17/7/2010) which says the same. how can i be sure which one i have?
3. i've looked into kits and found X360USB Pro is what i probably need (easiest) is there is anything else i need to ship with it? (I've seen so much options)
4. can someone refer me for a guide of how to flash with jungle flasher ( the whole procedure ) because in all guides they refering to a key file or something that i don't know how to get.
5. i've seen somewhere i need to restore to stock before upgrade to new lt+ version, is that true? because i'm affraid to be stuck with the stock version.
6. is there is anything i need to know else excpet for that?

I have techinical knowlge but its first time doing xbox flashing..

2. The best way to you are 100% sure which one it is u open it to see drive there is sticker and driver version.

3. I would recommend you X360USB Pro and CK3i (If u want to do somthing with phats you will need CK3 Probe 3 too)

4. Key file is called dummy.bin how to get it:i suggest you to read complete JungleFlasher toutrial which is included with junge flasher.

5. Flash to stock is always recommended. Its not a big deal about flashing to stock (you tut about this in JF TUT).

6. Read the Jungle Flasher toutrial

depends on the chip on the board as well, if its a mxic you will need a sputnik probe or sputnik unlock switch.

If its a winbond chip you will need to do the Kamikaze hack

There are guides on this forum for both so you should be able to find out very easily what you have and how to sort it to flash it.

To add to the above, other options if it's a Winbond chip you could buy a TX PCB or a MXIC PCB from a member which has been unlocked and got a switch fitted :smile:

Ideally you need to open it up, take out the dvd drive, open that up and look at the SPi chip....

I want to make the order and I prefer to open the console once so if I have slim all I need to order is X360USB Pro and CK3i?
Or those chip thing has another hardware requirements?
This Xbox is already LT+ 1.1 so I don't think I need to replace anything..

If You Have MXIC Then You Just Need A Sputnik Switch \Probe or If You Have windbond then You Need To Do A Kamikaze To Unlock Or You Can Use TX Unlocked PCB !

Example:- if your drive is a 9504 it could be read/flashed up to and including dash 13146.
If it has dash 13146 then the drive will be a 0272.
If it then got updated to 13599 or later (13604) dash then it will be locked.
Another issue is that some 9504 drives actually came out of the factory pre-flashed to a 0225 even though they had a 9504 sticker on the drive. To find this out you need to connect it up to JungleFlasher and read the drive.


As you can see from the above and other answers we really need to know the dash you are on and what actual version of drive you have.

There are too many variables and therefore a definitive answer cannot be given

However if you were to buy a CK3i and a X360USB Pro this would at least allow you to read the drive to find out which version it is :wink:

Now it's late but tommrow morning i'll open up my xbox and drive and post exacly what i have so i'll know what i need!

wtf? i opened my xbox, and my drive has no sticker,
and it looks like it broke up and reassmble again.. :O
what should i do :facepalm:?!? here is some pictures..

I've managed to open the drive up and i captured it too,
including the chip. altought its not like the older posts at all!

does that tell anything to anyone?
can i close now my xbox? or i need to check more stuff?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but........

You Sir have been conned!!! :eek2:

That appears to be a drive from a Pht console which has been SPOOFED and butchered to fit in your Slim :crazy:

I suggest taking that back to where you bought it from and getting your $100 back :mad2:

Spoofed drives are not supported with LT+XX FW as M$ can detect the OSIG which can lead to a BAN....

Also you cannot update your dashboard...you will get E66 error (I think...:tongue

i maybe wrong
but white wires normally points towards a benq

The only other option you have is to buy a Slim Lite-On and hope it has a MXIC chip and then do the Sputnik hack or buy the TX PCB or buy a PCB which has already been hacked....

That's why he want $100 to flash it again....:mad2:

I'd take it back and ask for your money back that is a terrible thing to do to someone (unless you knew what he was doing!) :eek2:

Personally I think the answer the shop have given you is bull-sh*t m8 :mad2:

Speak to them again and tell them that under the circumstances you are going to take it to Trading Standards (or the equivellent for USA). They may take a different stance but don't threaten them (not until they are adamant....!!!!) :eek2:

Are you going to use this console on line?

Because to do so it will have to be updated to dash 13604 to use live. This will not be possible because at dash 13146 it flashes the drive then at 13599 it locks the drive (assuming it was originally a 9504) and with a SPOOFED drive the update will fail!!!! :frown:

You need to get a Slim Lite-On drive (any version 9504/0272 - 0225 - 0401 -1071) and modify it!
Alrternatively go to the traders section and post a request for services.

Either of the above options will require you to buy CK3i & X360USB Pro (plus TX PCB or Sputnik PCB/Probe)

Or finally send it to someone close who can get the key and sort out a replacement Slim Lite-On drive.....:frown:


Once again sorry for the sh*tty news buddy but don't give up on the shop route

I just spoke to the manager now he said that it came with Hitachi wich is unhackable or something and they had to change..
they will check what they can do and call me back.
is that even possiable??

They said it can be upgraded I just need to pay them..
