i'm not sure if i'm in the right forum section but i really need some help.

i've got a cross-over cable and i've got all my i.p stuff configured to match the xbox. i've got the static ip enabled and i've got qwix 1.01.

i have tried everything from every forum and site i have come across all day and i cannot get my pc to find the xbox. qwix tells me that the ftp server on the xbox isnt running/enabled..so, how do i do that?

can some one please help? if i'm in the wrong forum can you please move my post to the relevant spot. i'm loosing my mind with this problem.

thanks.

I havn't used Qwix myself, instead I'm useing an regular ftp client as
Flashxftp i think it's called (at work).

Are you useing Evox? Go to check the configuration file for ftp,
it chould be in the same place as the Static IP config, but at the end
It should say Enabled {u:xbox/p:xbox}

If you have X3 then boot to bios screen, HOLD white button down
during bootsequence. I think the ftp is active from the beginning in
bios. Same User/password as above.

My Pc Ip address is set to 192.168.1.200 which is the same as the Xbox's IP address. The Subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 and the default gateway is 192.168.1.1

I'm using a Xecuter 3 with slayers installed.

I know. It seemed weird and pointless to me too. But a whole bunch of crap tutorials told me to do it. I'll have a quick look at those tutorials and get back to you.

nope. didn't work. Now I'm getting a message come up in qwix saying

"ftp connection error. conection timed out. This is usually caused because your xbox is not currently running an ftp server. Make sure that your xbox is on and that your using the correct IP address for the xbox, and that the ftp server is running/enabled."

Well the Xbox is definately on and I have the right IP address. how do I make sure that the ftp server is running?

how do I make sure that the ftp server is running?
You have to have the chip on and a known app/dashboard that has a server. Like EvolutionX, Avalaunch, Xbox Media Center, etc..
You have to be in the dash and most of them will display the xbox IP address.

Also, disable any firewalls or antivirus programs you may be running.

alright I'm gonna use Xbox media centre for this. I went into media centres settings and made sure I had the right IP and I still stuck. Same message as before. And I disabled the firewall and antivirus already.

the problem is your configuration is totally wrong. Let me make it clearer for you and I hope I'm right.

1)on your Xbox, if you use evox dashboard or whatever dashboard, you need to configure so that the ip=192.168.1.200 subnet=255.255.255.0 and default gateway=192.168.1.1

2) on your PC, configure so that ip=192.168.1.1 subnet=255.255.255.0 and default gateway=192.168.1.200

On your ftp client, make sure you have the right username and pw. If use evox dash, username and pw = xbox . Not sure about other dash b/c I don't use them.

Do that and let us know what is the result.

If that doesn't work and you are using WinXP on your PC, try disabling WinXP built in firewall.
