Earlier today I opened her up and found out that the flash protection switch on the chip was set to protected (green), I changed it to unprotected (red), put everything back together, but it's exactly the same.
The preflashed chip won't boot to flashBIOS 3.03 while on (blue) or on backup (purplish).
Holding down the power button boots the MS dashboard up as normal.
After messing with the banks, the only ones that changed anything (During mod ON) were:
OFF/ON/OFF/ON/OFF - Resulted in the common FRAGing problem (possibly due to bad soldering), starts up, stops, starts up and stops another 2 times, and starts flashing red and green.
ON/OFF/ON/OFF/ON - Results in the same way, maybe something to do with the zig-zagged combonation.
All other bank combinations (including backup on) - resulted in Solid Green for 10-20 seconds then Solid Orange.
I've tried to burn flashBIOS 3.03 with a 500mb dummy file on CD-RW but the xbox can't read it (even with bank 2 ON and the rest OFF).
I've also tried to burn the latest X3 BIOS on CD-RW but once again, the xbox can't read it (even with banks 1 & 2 ON and the rest OFF).
I have a newer Thomson drive which is supposed to read most brands of every format except CD-R's, which it can only read sometimes. When the chip is on or on backup, the drive cannot open up.
I am out of ideas. Could it be soldering? Which solder points do you think it is? Will I have to try Blind Flashing? Do I need to Hotswap? Could the Preflash on the X3CE chip be screwed up? Possibly Solder Splash?
