Today, I tried booting with the chip disabled for the first time. My switch thing changes to red and the xbox starts up, but my power LED also changes to red. Its not FRAGing, just solid red. My HD LED shows some activity, but I have no audio or video. I don't know what the problem is, if I load the msdash from avalaunch, it works fine. I was thinking that my TSOP or EEPROM is messed up. I am running a different EEPROM than I had before. My old mobo got fried and I bought a new one and put in the old mobo's EEPROM. I never toutched my TSOP but I think that might be my problem. Can someone please tell me how I might reflash my TSOP with my X3?

EDITED: WOW I finally found a solution to this problem. Aparently, the 1.0 EEPROM is different from all the others, so what I did was use config magic to backup my EEPROM, then I used FTP to change the configmagic.ini's version line from
#XboxVersion = 1.0
to
XboxVersion = 1.1
and I went back into config magic and restored the backed up EEPROM, locked my HDD, restarted with it disabled, and it loaded!!! Hope this helps anyone who had the same problem.

Re: disabled not working right

Are EEPROMS from xbox version 1.0 compatible with 1.4 xboxes? I think that might be my problem. I put my old EEPROM on my new xbox...

i don't know anything about eeproms, but that seems the most likely explanation. do you have your new eeprom dumped somewhere? if you do then you can try re-flashing it and seeing what happens.

Re: disabled not working right

anyone know anything about putting a 1.0 EEPROM into a 1.4 system? I wa thinking about trying to get my friend's EEPROM, but I really don't want to have to mod his system to get his EEPROM unless I know it will work.

Re: disabled not working right

I'm having a similiar issue with my v1.0 - it boots up fine when the chip is on; however, having the chip off results in some sort of frag. I also believe this to be an EEPROM issue. If anyone can help, I'm sure we would both appreciate it.

Have you tried RELOADING the XBOX EEPROM from another system? I get the feeling we're suffering the same problem. I'm about to try that within the next couple of days. I will let you know what the results are, if you are interested.

Re: disabled not working right

ok, thanks. I am going to try that sometime soon too if I ever find someone who has a v1.4 motherboard. Did you ever rewrite your eeprom? I have a v1.0 eeprom in my box, maby if you have a v1.4 eeprom in your system we can trade and see if it works.
