XBOX v1.4 manufactured 2005-1-10 ?!?!?

I'm successfully performed a 1.6 mod three weeks ago for the first time. I decided to do another one so I purchased a brand new XBOX from Best Buy last weekend. The MFG date on the bottom is 2005-1-10, so I assumed it was another 1.6 Xbox.

However, when I looked at the board it didn't look like a 1.6. Turns out it's actually a 1.4!!! How did that happen?

I put it back together and turned it on. In the dashboard it had settings:

K: 1.00 5713. 01
D: 1.00 5659. 01

I'm kinda new to this, but how did a 1.4 board get in there?

M$ appear to be raiding the old parts bin to put together some xboxs, do not assume that if you buy a new xbox it will be a v1.6.

I'm not so sure that any Xboxes with mfg dates of 2005 are 1.6. I think they're all 1.4/1.5!

But I have another Xbox with a mfg date of 2004-10-03 that is a 1.6.

It sounds like Mattydread may be right with MS diggin' into the old parts in order to make things happen.

My very first Xbox was a 1.4 with a mfg date sometime 2003. My friend modified it which got me into the whole thing.

Which supports what I said - the 2005 Xboxes I believe are all 1.4/1.5. I think that Microsoft have stopped production of the Xbox 1.6 and are now using excess stock of 1.4/1.5 to fill the demand until the Xbox 360 is released.

All Xboxes I've modded with a manufacturing date of 2005 have been 1.6s. It probably depends on the geographical location.

Gotta be geographical - all 2005 Xboxes I've seen have been 1.4s... Thanks for the info!
