I receive my premod XBOX from Modchipman today. When I turn it on to flash bios the FlashBIOS 3.03 Menu come up. But using the original controller come with the XBOX I cannot move to chose anything on the menu. I turn the chip off and the controller play game normaly.

Have any one encounter this problem? How can I fix it? Thank you. I've tried both bank 1 and bank 2 and it's still the same.

Open Tray Error but Not even real games play...

so my friend flashed my drive using iExtreme LT for lite-on drives.

everything was working smoothly but the first week, it wouldn't read any discs. I turned my xbox to a horizontal position and it started working again.

Then 2 weeks later, it just stopped reading any discs (burned or real). It sounds like the drive is not even spinning at all. Maybe for a 2 seconds and just stops dead on it's track.

Do you think the drive is broken? Is there any way to fix this? i have the xbox completely open and the drive out, but i don't know what to look at to see what's wrong.

any help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Re: Open Tray Error but Not even real games play...

Open the drive and try and spin the round thing (motor) that the cd sits on by hand. It should spin freely...if its not spinning freely then you could try a couple of drops of singer oil on the bearing and see if it frees up. I fixed a drive like that 2 years ago and its still working.

power it up with the lid off to see how it works. - If you want to see it working with a cd in there take the plastic bit out of the lid and sit it on top of the cd.

most likely a bad flash or a laser issue.

I never put my xbox vertical - always horizontal !

Re: Open Tray Error but Not even real games play...

thank you tahaic, i just opened it up and checked to see if it spins freely and it does. I powered it on with the lid on and it spins fine. the laser seems to blink. so it does try to read it for a second but it just stops.

when it tries to read a cd it does make this weird sound but it only checks for like 1 second before it stops spinning.

is this a bad flash? backup games were working perfectly for a week.

I would reflash it just to make sure. - Then take it from there
Was it working ok before you flashed it?

Re: Open Tray Error but Not even real games play...

your welcome.

If it was working fine for a week then its a good flash - so I won't bother reflashing. And if its spinning up nice and fast then it would most likely be a laser issue.

There is a pot tweak you can try for the laser. But before you do that make sure that it really is spinning up fine. The drive I mentioned earlier just wouldn't spin fast enough, it would start to spin and then stop like you are saying.
