xbox v1.6

hello , i have a xbox v 1.6 and have ordered a Xecuter 2.6 CE Mod Chip & Xapter which should arrive any day .
once installed i have been told i have to flash the xecuter chip , i have looked on the internet and have found 2 types of bios flash an xecuter bios or a evolutionx bios .
the question is my xbox is a v1.6 do i need the latest bios of either of these 2 or would any version work ?
i have figured out how to make a cd/dvd flash disc i just need to know which version of bios i will need .
i have evolution x v2.6 and v3.6
and X2 v1.0 and 1.1
would any of these work ?

on the main page, before you come into the forums...look at the top right corner...you will find the BIOS you need there....

The bios on the front page is not the latest version. The latest version is 5035. Download it from Xbins. When you extract it, you will see two .bin files. Since you have a 1.6, you will want to use the bin file that has 1.6 in the file name. Don't waste your time with the Evox M8 bios.

If possible don't bother with the BIOS disc, at least not at first. If you are able to flash via network then do so. Your X2.6 should have FlashBIOS versions that support network flashing, much easier than burning a BIOS disc. Again, reference the front page for a tutorial on FlashBIOS.

I just finished the exact same upgrade and I went with the 5035 config live 1.6 version from XBins and it works GREAT!

The xapt3r was a bitch to install, those holes are microscopic, but once the xapt3r was in, the rest of the install and the flashing was a breeze! Make sure you have a real brand-name Xbox controller, or you will not be able to flash your chip. When you first get the chip installed, make sure you can boot both flashbios banks. (1.6 will only boot from 3.0.1, 1.6b will boot from both.) If you can't boot from both banks, make sure you don't overwrite the one you CAN boot from!

You'll still need a boot CD in order to FTP files to the box so you can set up a dashboard and update the config live ini file to tell the bios what dash to use. I recommend downloading avalaunch.

I'm assuming you're going to want to upgrade your hard drive. If so, you'll want to back up your C and E drive (via FTP) and then use a boot disk that has a prepare hard drive support to prep your new hard drive and FTP the C and E drive stuff back. Then use flashbios (from the bank you didn't flash to) to lock your hard drive, and you're all set!
