So I have this older v1.0 xbox with a fubar dvd drive and a nonworking 4th controller port. But it still boots mediacenter about 80% of the time on the first try. On the occasions when it doesnt boot media center it goes to the this xbox needs service screen with varying error numbers but 07 seems to be the most common. Now heres the weird part: when i turn off my box the powerlight turns off and you hear the dvd drive and hd power down but the fan and modchip light remain on for a couple seconds before turning off. Usually it will not boot on the next couple trys and I give up in frustration and come back later and turn it back on and everything works fine. Im running the xecutor 4983 bios. The weird turning off issue only occurs on instances where the xbox goes to the service screen. Any help is apprieciated and i apologize if this issue has been covered somewhere and im just bad at searching

07 means hdd timeout. Have you tried a new DVD and hard drive?

I know I have a semi-faulty dvd drive which always thinks that there is a dvd in the drive. That explains why I only boot sometimes. I was more curious about turning the xbox off, then it takes another couple seconds for it to completely power down

That's common when the Xbox is fragging.
