I just bought a premodded Xbox with an X3 chip for my son. I went out and got the X3 bios from Xbins but I need to figure out what version of Xbox I have so that I can flash the Bios correctly. Any way I can do this short of opening it up an see how it was modded? Thanks for the help with the stupid question.

The serial number and manufacturing date can give you a pretty good idea of what version the box is. There are charts for using that method. As far as I know, the only real way is to open it up and following the step-by-step guide on x-s. What's the manufacturing date ?

This used to be the case, but it look like MS are raiding the parts bin, and putting all sorts of weird combinations together. Only real way is to open up the box and check the LPC and Video chips.

It doesn't have a manufacter date that I can find but it does say it was made in Mexico. I think I'm pretty safe to assume it's a 1.5 or less???

Something doesn't sound right. I believe all xbox consoles have the manufacturer date printed on a sticker that is located on the bottom of the console.
