XBOX Will Not Power On

I just installed an X3 into my 1.0 xbox. I followed the instructions found on the home page for teamxecuter (Xecuter 3 Installation Tutorial Rev 1.02).

I accidently plugged the Power/Eject cable into the 5v (v1.6 only) port on the X3 modchip. Everything else was completed correctly.

When I plugged in the power on my XBOX it gave off a slight burning smell. I thought it might be the smell of the solder, because everything seemed to worked fine?

However, the power and the eject button did not work. My xbox immediately powered on once I plugged in the cable and the only way to turn it off was to unplug it.

After going back now and plugging the Power/Eject cable into the correct port, my xbox will not boot. It seems as if it is not getting power. I tried taking off the X3 mod chip and hooking the Power/Eject straight back into the mother board (bypassing the Power/Eject No Solder Adapter). Still no luck.

The only way I can get my XBOX to boot is to plug the Power/Eject cable back into the 5v port. I am thinking that I may have to replace my Power/Eject buttons. However, this is my first mod so I may be going in the wrong direction.

Thanks for any feedback.

It seems a lot of people are making this "mistake" with the X3 CE. But if they're not going to read the instructions...

On the chip I have, there are two places that the power/eject cable will plug. One is the 5.5 volt plug and the other is the correct plug.

You are correct in saying that I didn't follow the instructions. It was late and I plugged it into the wrong location.

I was hoping that someone would have some advice on how to fix my problem. I really don't need anyone to remind me that I didn't follow the instructions. I already admitted that in my first post.

I don't mean to sound rude. I was just hoping for some help. Instead I just got ridiculed.

Does anyone have an idea on how to fix my problem? Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I don't know about the plug and whatever, but if your XBOX has a short, it will not turn on.

Sounds to me that the power/eject buttons are fried. But you say it boots if you connect it to the 5v on the chip, weird. Do you have a friend that has an xbox that you coulc borrow his power/eject assembly? Also you could have fried the power/eject daughter card for the x3. Try plugging the power/eject buttons back to the mobo and take off the x3 power/eject assembly(it is optional anyway).

Thanks for the ideas. I tried taking off the x3 power/eject daughter card and hooking right to the mobo. No luck there. I will try to borrow my friends power/eject assembly and see if it works. Does anyone know where I can find instructions on how to switch it out?
