Does anybody have any ideas of what may be wrong? For some reason after I flashed the bios it will not boot up. I press the button and it starts for 1-2 seconds and then quits. Please let me know if I am missing anything? I can press both the on/off and eject at the same time and it will boot up with the backup flashbios.

Steps I have taken:
1. installed X3 CE chip
2. Set the ext. switch to on on off off off
3. tried to flash bios via http

What I have:
xbox v 1.0
Xecuter3 CE - solderless
I flashed the bios via HTTP to X3 - 3108
original HDD
original DVD

Thanks,

Mac

If you're getting FlashBIOS it's a good start.

Make sure you're using the 3108 and NOT the 3108v16Plus BIOS. Switch positions look good, so try again!

Update

Ok, I have tried all of the X3 3XXX bios and the all do the same. I have tried the X3 - 2914 bios and it worked. The 2914 version is the latest version I could get up and running. The only problem I am having with the 2914 version is I cannot save any changes to the bios. When I try and set the network settings or anything else it does not get saved when I reboot. Oh, on the earlier tries I was using the right bios, not the v1.6 bios.

I hope this helps in shedding some light on my issue?

Thanks,

Mac

One more thing

I did not clear out the solder when I installed the solderless connecter and X3 chip. I figured it was ok, since it booted up to the FlashBios.

Also, the solderless connector has 6 pins in one row and the pin holder for the solder solution has 8 pins. So I guess my question is where do I connect the X3 on the solderless connector? Which pin holes do I start with on the X3 chip? I hope this makes sense?

Thanks again,

Mac

Now we're getting somewhere!

You just said X3 Solderless before. are you aware that the only solderless solution for the X3 is the Xapt3r?? The normal Xapter won't cut it, since the X3 EEPROM cannot be accessed. The Xapter is a std 6x2 pinheader on it, whereas the Xapt3r is the nicer, bling version with 8x2 pinheader on it.

Same rpoblem with the Xapt3r

I have the same issue with the Xapt3r adapter. I can use a 2XXX bios but when I flash to the 3108 it will power for about 1 sec and then quit.:(

I am not sure I understand correctly. If the adapter is lined up worng the 2XXX bios will work, but the 3XXX will not??? I thought that if the 2XXX was working then the 3XXX should as well???

Just to eliminate the easy stuff first really! If you want to try erasing the EEPROM first, it may be worthwhile. Like I said, ensure you're using the correct BIOS for your board.

do I really have to erase the EEPROM. I have a 1.1 box and am using the correct 3108 bios (the one NOT for 1.6) but it still will only work for the 2XXX bios.

Erasing the X3 EEPROM is an easy step. There's only a couple of reasons why a newer BIOS wouldn't work in favour of an older one:

1. Settings on chip are wrong.
2. Connection to chip is wrong.
