xbpartitioner settings not honored

I have an X3CE, running X3-1959. I'm using XBPartitioner tryinging to create a 275GB F: partition. I save the changes and it says it creates the partition table and formats the partition. When I drop back to the dashboard I can copy files to this new partition with no problems. On the next reboot, the partition settings are overwritten by whatever LBA48 options are set in the X3 bios. I have tried all three X3 LBA48 options without any luck - no matter what I set it to, my custom partition table seems to be replaced.

I read somewhere that there should be an option in X3 Config Live to tell the bios to load the partition table either from the ROM or the drive...I can't find that option anywhere in X3CL, and I'm not sure that would fix my problem anyway.

What do I need to do to have XBPartition settings honored by the bios?

thanks

By custom, I mean that using XBPartition it's possible to create your F: and G: (and other) partitions whatever size you want them to be.

As opposed to the LBA48 options in the X3 bios which give you only three choices: 1 - Normal Xbox partitioning (ie no drive F:), 2 - F: gets everything above the normal partitions, or 3 - F: get's up to 137GB, G: gets the rest.

thanks

Checking the documentation would have also explained things...

Supported BIOS's

Current BIOS's which can read the partition table from disk are X2 4976.02,
x2 4977, Evox D6, Evox M7 and Evox M8. These BIOS's need to be patched with
XBtool or EVtool for LBA48 support before they can read the partition table.

Team X-ecuter has announced that they will support on-disk partition tables in
their future releases.

================================================================================
XBpartitioner should run under most any BIOS, LBA48 patch version 2 is
supported, but it is recommended that you update to version 3 if you are using a
patched kernel.

Changing partitions 2, 3, 4, and 5 is not recommended.

Changing partition 1 should be safe, but you shouldn't use a BIOS which doesn't
read the partition table from the disk if you do this. That means all non LBA48
BIOS's and X2 4979 and up should NOT be used with a modified partition 1.

that post isn't really relevant to what he's asking it has to do with LBA48 compatibility and the bios. He's running an X3-1959 bios so it's fully compatible and can handle any LBA48 compliant partition setup. This includes the custom table's he's referring to.

The fact that Xecuter will support on disk partition table's in the future is also correct and they do. As a matter of fact that is what they use for their partition tables, but the problem is his new bios automatically writes that table so his custom table is overwritten by his bios on boot.

I don't know a way to circumvent this and I think you'll just have to hope that further functionality will be added into X3CL for custom partition sizes, or that xecuter will at least allow us to turn off the "feature" that rewrites the partition table on boot.

not really. only the C and E partiotions hav to be a specific size. F and G can be any size

From the changelog with the 2913 CL:
[1729]
- lcd backlight setting now configurable
- tweaked lcd output a little bit
- lcd welcome message (default: "www.teamxecuter.com") is now changeable
- colorized new flubber/xlogo code
- added several new flubber/xlogo toggles
- fixed bug with temp. display on 1.6 when displaying messageboxes in x3 config live
- now supporting nghtshd's partitioning tool - successfully tested, partitioning has to be enabled in x3 config live to make it use a saved partition
(new option located under disk tools / new hdd upgrade)
as far as I am able to tell, ngtshd's partition tool is xbpartition, and this claim is no longer true for the config live bios - I hope they fix it :( I miss my x3 config live
