wahoo!!!!!!!! i've connected everything up properly

however.........

i've managed to destroy the ide cable,

can i use any suitable pc ide cable or do i have to order a replacement?

You can - just watch the length! You need quite a long IDE cable for the Xbox. Plently of places sell the ATA100 version of the cable and claim to get better load times.

Me - I've got two Xboxes with the same HDDs in them. One has the stock IDE cable, one has the ATA100 cable. Never noticed a difference with load times yet..

wel i've ordered a replacemnt so should be up and running soonnnn.....

a question about flashing... when flashing to the modchip, which bank do i select?

ok......... a little update

the chip is correctly flashed, the ide cable and power cables are all ok

however, whenever i turn the xbox on, it keeps turning off then back on randomly

i get no screen at all and this only happens when i have connected the hard drive and dvd drive

any suggestions?
