if the drive is from an old xbox was it unlocked before you removed it?

I thought that may have been the problem. the guy i got it off told me it had been formated and unlocked to be used in a pc i don't have any way to check it as i only have a notebook so i have canned that one for now i bought a WD 80gig hd i'm just waiting for it to arrive then i'll hopefully be able to get it to work fingers crossed

ok now i have installed my new western digital 80gig hdd and still error 7 bank 1 and 2. this is the third drive i have tried and still getting error 7 i have tried swapping the ide cable and still error 7. the chip seems to be working anyway what are the posibilities
1 its a lost cause bin it and buy a new one
2 the install of the chip is dodgy desolder and try again
3 i've damaged something on the motherboard during the install
4 find someone in my local area who can fix it for me

anyway if anyone else has any ideas please help as i haven't got a clue
and i thought this would be easy who was i kidding
