Alright, I soldered on the LPC rebuild and the pin header on to the motherboard and also soldered on the DO/LAN/HD cable, and since i have a version 1.6 put in the 5v wire. Soldering looks fine(I think). But, when I try to boot the box it frags, but i see the blue light on the chip flashing and also the lights on the power switch. My box also frags if i turn the switch off. So this cant be a bios problem correct? Any ideas??? Have i messed up my box since it frags with the chip off??:(:( Please help anyone please please please!!!!:eek:

If your xbox frags with the chip off you may have either got a solder splash or fried a trace. Take a very close look around where you have been solderinging to see if there are any breaks in the tracks or tiny dots of solder splashed between 2 tracks joining them together.

Thanks guys I will take a look after work! And remove any splashes and hope fully everything will be fine. Just remove splashes by desoldering correct?

Alright, I wish I would have seen this walkthrough before I started installing my CHIP: http://www.yoxbox.com/tut/xecuter2-6v1-6/solder.html

Step 8: LPC rebuild. I soldered on all of the pins (13 pins or whatever) On this walkthrough shows only to solder the 5/6 pins that are actually on the LPC rebuild. IS this going to be a problem?? Should I remove the solder from the other pins?????

Someone please help me!

hi, the lpc rebuild clearly shows which pins need to be soldered to it, i.e there is a little silver section right next to the pin indicating the pin needs to be soldered to the lpc board. From that link you can clearly see 6 pins need to be soldered to the lpc rebuild board, 2 on the left and 4 on the right (as you look at it on the screen) although the very top pin on the right is obscured by the damn cirlce they have drawn on it!!!

Remember ALL the pins need to be soldered to the motherboard of which 6 ALSO need to be soldered to the LPC rebuild as well. Some poeple say solder all pins to the mobo then drop on the lpc and then do those 6 again to the lpc, others say solder the pins that do not have to be attached to both the lpc to the mobo, the remaining 6 pins can be soldered one at a time simultaneously to the mobo and lpc. Its up to you, i go for option 2.

Here is a decent link on this site which will help!!

Alright, box is booting in normal mode now. Still doesn't boot when chip is on. I have checked soldering seems fine!!! I noticed a couple things on my power switch though. There are LEDs for the HD and LAN wires. The HD one lights up but the LAN one flashes when the box is trying to boot but does not stay on but the HD one does. Also, something seems screwed on the switch. There is a switch were you have the option of turning the LEDs on and off. But that switch is working backwards. ON means OFF and OFF means ON??? Is this a defect? or something wrong I did????

Thanks!!

Don't worry the switch is reversed and always has been for some strange reason. The Lan light will only flash when active, so unless you are transferring any data to/from your xbox it will generally stay off.

So set your switch to led's off (i.e so its is actually active), makes sure the chip is switched on (green light).

& boot up

If you get nothing (i.e. usual M$ dash) this is a strong indication that the D0 connection is bad.
If you get a frag then the lpc's are not soldered correctly.

If you know any friendly person with a modded xbox i would ask them nicely if you could plug your chip into their machine to eliminate the possibility it is a chip fault (many people on here will try and tell you they never fail, but take it from me i screwed up a brand spanking new xbox soldering and resoldering trying to get one to work only to discover after trying it in a mates xbox that the damn thing was faulty!!)
