I've been using my 2.6 in a version 1.2 xbox, and i was repairing another xbox that was a 1.6. i completed the LPC rebuild, and i did the wires install for the chip. the d0 is in place, but it frags with the chip on and boots up fine with it off. Could this be a bios problem, because i have a BIOS that was made for the 1.2?

I haven't messed with 1.6 xboxs before that much and would appreciate any help or directions to a guide. Thanks

:edit: i have the bios on bank 1 and flashbios on bank 2. im not sure what version either is, but both frag

which bios do you have on bank 1?
it probably isn't compatible with a 1.6 box

it also depends on which version you have of flashbios too (can't remember which version is 1.6 compatible)

you can place the chip in the 1.2 box and flash it with X2 5035 v16plus version bios for 1.6/1.6b boxes and then transfer the chip back over to the 1.6 box and see if boots up, that way you will know whether it was a bios problem or if there's a problem with your install

3.01 works with 1.0-1.6, 3.03 works with a 1.6b.

im still getting a frag... this is getting rather annoying. i've un and re installed the wire 3 times, i've redone the lpc points on the back of the mobo twice, and its still fragging.

when i have it unmodded it boots up to where it asks for the correct time, then it restarts and i get error 21. i believe this to be because the guy that gave it to me tried to softmod it and messed up.. any more assistance would be appreciated, is there a common mistake that people make with the 1.6, or am i just a moron? thanks

It is a problem with your install. Did you do a wire LPC rebuild or use the included rebuild board? You may also want to check your switches with a multimeter, and make sure you wires going to the switches are firmly plugged in.

i used the included lpc rebuild first, i've done it before with other xboxs with no problem, but i fragged with that. so i desoldered it and used my own wire to do it manually, still no success.

when u say switches, you mean the switches that tell the modchip to be on or off and bank select right? i have been using this chip and switch in another xbox with no problem.

Yes, those are what I am talking about. It may be the connection between the wires and the switches that is causing the problem. They can be very flakey.

What did the guy do when he tried to softmod it? Was he ever successful? Your best bet would be to get the Xbox working with the chip completly removed before going forward.
