I have a v.1.6 Xbox and have installed a Xecuter 2.6. First time I soldered everything up and put the DVD and HD back in Xbox and found that whether I have the modchip enabled or not the xbox would boot to Xbox Dashboard. After many fusterating hours, I desoldered everything and started all over again. Installed pin header, then installed LPC rebuild, and finished up with soldering the HD and Lan points. I then tested without DVD and HD in and found that whether I have the mod enabled or not, it will boot up then give me service number 7 kernel - HDD timeout, and then frag to red and green alternating lights. I tested with every switch possibility , mod chip light and all switch lights are working fine. Can anyone help me with this most fusterating of mod installs I have experienced.

When you were using the header, did you make sure to take out the pin 6. As said in the tutorial, and i quote...
"You should note that pin 4 and pin 16 is removed as default. For the v1.6 install you must also remove Pin 6 with some long nose pliers (This is 5v on the LPC bus - on the v1.6 Xbox the LPC 5v is permanently on making it impossible to cleanly disable the mod)"

Did you plug your hard drive back in? What about the DVD drive? If this is a new hard drive, what do you have the jumper set at?
