I have had my xbox for several years now modded with an Xecuter 2.6 Pro. I have flashed the BIOS several times using multiple methods. Since I have the pro, I have also been able to program the bios using the LTP adapter.

Recently I have had some interesting problems. I went to turn on my box the other day and it started FRAGging. I have no idea what had happened since I was playing it just a couple days ago. If I disable my mod chip and install the original HD, everything is fine. If I use the X2 Bios Manager, it properly detects the chip and it seems like I can read and write to it. However no matter which BIOS I try to install, the box still FRAGs upon turning on the mod chip.

Anybody have any suggestions on what to try?

Is it time to upgrade to an X3?

I removed the board from the case and looked at the pin header installation, did not notice anything that looked like it was bad.

I did have it working for a bit using an older bios. It had the anoying startup sound and I was trying to go to one of the X2CL Bios to remove the sound. After getting frustrtated, I attempted to go back to the old BIOS that had it working momentarily, and it would not work.

I will try doing a more thorough check of the solder points.

Thanks

Finally got a chance to work on the box again.

Thought about the switch issue when i got home from work. To be able to properly see the chip using the BIOS manager, the chip has to be set in 1MB mode with flash enabled. I was trying to flash a 1MB BIOS, so I don't think bank selection the switch is the problem. I am also able to successfully disable the chip, so that switch is functioning.

Thought more about the solder point issue. Did a test of the chip by removing the DVD drive and attaching only the HD. If I left the chip alone the box would FRAG. If I pushed down on the chip during boot, everything was fine. So, that seemed to confirm the solder point was an issue. Redid a few of the solder points, and now everything seems to be working fine. And if I do have future problems, I know where to start looking first.

Thanks for you help DJBOOBY!
