Xecuter 2.6, xbox 1.6b blank screen

I just installed an Xecuter 2.6 and followed the diagrams for X3 install on 1.6. When I turn it on the xbox boots with a green led then turns orange on the cdrom eject button. The eject button does not work, but the xbox works fine when I turn off the mod chip.

How do I load the BIOS if I cannot boot a cd or dvd? Do I need a programmer and which one do I need?

Other info:
Installed chip with wire header and LPC rebuild. Checked wires with multimeter and they have a good connection.
Philips drive with brown cable.

Hi merc,

You have exactly the same problem as me, aparently you can either hot swap your chip into an older version xbox to flash the bios or just buy a programmer.

Personally I could do both but I have opted to buy a programmer as they are only around £15

there are many posts about this - didnt you read the forum much ?

you have to either hot swap the chip with another xbox or buy an x2 programmer - new stock will have the working flashbios version of course

bought my programmer for £15 and it took 15 mins to flash the new M8 Plus 16 bios to the chip and put my box back together.....works great now

It pays to get someone that chip's x-box's and ps2's all the time to fit your chips its a peace of cake when you know how and you have either option of flashing in a second x-box or to use a programmer.

Do you not think its worth spending that little xtra and saving yourselves all the problems you come across that I read in these threads.

I'm not trying to get more customers I have enough, Im just sayin you could save yourselves alot of hassle eh

I am having pretty much the same problem.I installed an Xecuter 2.6lite on my version 1.6b xbox. When I try to boot it up with the chip on, the screen stays blank and after 8-10 seconds the eject button will go orange. Then the dvd will not open. It runs fine with the chip off. I have not flashed any bios because I can't get it to that stage. I am 99% sure that the chip is soldered properly. I am not sure what to do now???

Me too. I have a chrystal xbox with a 1.6b board and installing a 2.6 chip. Chip is definatly installed correctly and same problems occur. I have flashed the chip in a 1.4 box using evox m8 1.6b bios in bank 2. When the chip is put back into the chrystal box it gives a blank screen on bank 2, but powers up with evo x red triangle if chip set to bank 1. It will not boot any games.

Anyone got any ideas....Please help or point me in the right direction....

I had the same problem a week ago, but have fitted over a dozen V2.6's into 1.6B's since. The way out for me was to buy the programmer, use BioManager V2.3, flash with M8+16 to both banks (copy across all 4 in BiosManager). They drop in no problem now. I may be talking out the back of my head, but have been told there's a conflict with cromwell if left on the chip ??, although I have put one in with M8+16 just on bank 2??
I also now use HQ Evox Auto installer 1.3, this may or may not be better than Slayers or Nothern, but I've tried all three and ended up using Evox Auto 1.3.

you can use Xecuter FlashX to flash your X2.6's

takes 20 seconds and you dont need to reset your xbox every time it flashes

useful if you have a batch of chips you need to flash.

all new stocks are now shipping to resellers with the updated version of bios.

I too now have had success by following the above : Crystal Xbox 1.6b and installed X2.6 chip. I also used V2.3 Biosmanager and a programmer from my PC. I flashed bank 1 with cromwell 3.0.3 and bank 2 with M8plus_16. all games work fine now. from bank 2.

My only problem is that when I press eject the tray opens but the xbox performs a full reset and I have to reset the clock. I can get round it by powering off and on the xbox before an eject but this will sometime be forgotten by others. I have checked the 4 wire LPC rebuild and all points are correct (buzzed out with meter) - there are no shorts on the board and good solder tecnique has been used.

Anybody know how to stop clock resetting each time I eject a game?

I have the same problem. Flashed my X2.6 with flashbios 3.01 and evox m8 plus 16.

I have the same problem with the x3 i believe it needs flashed to 3.03 to work i bet you guys have the 1.6b that just appears like a 1.6 but it really is a 1.6b mine gives every indication that it is a 1.6 but it doesnt work like one. the only indication i have that its a 1.6b is the date manufactured.

I HAD that issue.

Apparently the chip ships with flashbios 3.01 in bank 1, and 3.03 in bank 3.

So bank 1 will not work for you. Use bank 2, and flash over bank 1.
