Hi All,
I just installed an xecuter 3 ina v1.6b box. It is up and workinf fine. However, when I fisrt turned the unit on to flash the bios I had a blank screen. After reviewing previous posts I learned there was a problem with pre-v3.0.3 flash screen and to change the switch bans to the second 1MB area OFF ON OFF OFF. I did this an the flash screen came up. To my suprise though I had the 3.0.3 version. I got impatiant (I did not wait to read any responses from an eailer post) and flashed to 5678. All is good the unit is wondeful and I loaded the XBMC which is all fine. OK the question is should I now flash bank 1234 and did I hurt myself down the road by doing what I did? Thanks in advance for any advice!

in the x3 bios theres a option to flash your backup bank power eject at same time i wounld flash it with flashbios 3.0.3
x3 bios guide below
Thanks for the info. I understand the backup flash is in addition to the 2048 K; is this physically separate memory? If this is so, then making sure the backup is flashed is more important than which bank of the 2048 I flashed to begin with. I assume then there is nothing sacred about flashing to 1234 instead of 5678 other than the 1234 is the normal default. Is my thinking correct???
Thanks.

If you have a 1.6b, by default your backup bios would not work.
So if you flash to 5678 initially and something goes wrong... you will have a problem since it was your only working bios... Luckily you have a clean flash.
Making sure you flash your backup bios with FlashBIOS 3.0.3 after you get your xbox going is a good safety precaution. There is nothing wrong with flashing to 5678... but you could of had problems. None of your other banks are working now, so it is good as a backup to flash working bioses in them.
