I have installed the chip fine, have then went on to flash a new bios and it will not work. I am trying to do it with a CDR, I select to do it by disc in the main menu, it then asks for me to put in the disc, I put in the disc and the only thing that comes up after that is, "cd label: new" which is the name of the cd. Nothing happens after that.

What is going on?!

2 things you need to have on the CD are a dummy file and the bios.bin file. Also depending on the DVD drive you have some will read the CD-R some will not. Also another key point is that depending on the media quality the drive might not read it. Brand name makes no difference its the data header on the media.
All is the dummy file is a zero filled file that takes up space.

Make a dummy file of 100MB (there are apps that you can get that can do this)
on the CD put the dummy file and the BIOS file burn and go.

Check to see what the status of the BIOS is. Check the protect switch on the chip itself not the protect switch on the front panel.

If the CD doesnt work just plug your xbox into your network and flash using the web utility.

Another thing is make sure that you have the dip switches set correctly for your version of xbox.

Right i couldn't get it to work with the CD or DVD so I tryed to do it through my network. I can get the xbox to recieve the bios but it just comes up with this screen, http://www.team-xecuter.com/flashbios/http/flash_protected.jpg

I had all the switches in the right place (on on off off off, also tried on off off off off), have tryed it with the switch panel disconnected and got the same screen.

What am i doing wrong?

p.s. when the chip boots one of the things it says is "Flash type: read only". Wouldnt that prevent the new bios being installised over the original?
