I dont want to sound nanoying but I am a complete newbie and need some help. For the past week I have been trying to work out how to flash my Xbox chip. I have downloaded what I am thought to have believed to be the right bios.

When swith the box (and chip) on, i get the FlashBIOS 3.0.0 screen, and then a "Unableto read HDD first sector getting partition table".

Any Ideas?

I have downloaded numerous bios's for the Xecuter 3 and tried several Media types to burn to, but the Xbox doesnt seem to recognise the bios extensions on the disk.

Sorry :(

thats whats wrong, put the stock drive back in and then boot flashbios. then flash the bios (my preffered method is http as it is quickest and easiest for me). then once you have the BIOS flashed, install your new HD via X3 bios, easy as pie. also check the guide to x3 site. someone please post that link, as i don't have it memorised ATM. good luck

and always as a rule, always try to low level format your hard drives (use utilities from manufacturer's website..ie. for maxtor drives you can get the powermax utility to format the drive).

And on another note, I AM ALSO AN XBOX NEWBIE, but I remember seeing an xecuter utility that formatted and prepared a new hard drive for an xbox...?

I'm sure the more experienced users could help you on that.

whoops, i should probably explain what I was saying:

format your hard drive because I bet you didn't do that(?) Hence your error: "Unableto read HDD first sector getting partition table"

Secondly, that utility should resolve partition problems... and get the hard drive working correctly in the xbox?

do you still have the stock hard drive? if you do plug it back in, flash the bios (switch settings = on,on,off, off, off), then after you can get into the new bios turn off your xbox, take out the old drive, put the new one in and make sure the jumper in the back is set to cable select, then go to disk tools, new hard drive upgrade, and you should be good. sorry for the run on sentence.

Replace broken BenQ drive with samsun?.?

So i have a BenQ drive out of one of the original xbox 360's, and the xbox's dvd drive started to fail then i got RROD. So my brother bought a Samsung drive online and i was wondering if i can use a Samsung drive if i used to have a BenQ, or if i even need one. I plan on flashing the modded firmware so i can play backups so we can share games, so if anyone can tell me what i should do, thanks! :?:

Re: Replace broken BenQ drive with samsun?.?

Spoof the drive as Benq (give it the properties of a benq). Its quite easy. read the sammy, get the firmware off.

Read the benq. get the firmware and save it. Load Sammy firmware as source. Load benq firmware as target. hit the spoof button. All the samsung properties will go over to the benq firmware. save the target firmware. Write to the benq using the spoofed benq firmware
