hey I need some advice about this chip. is it really as good as it sounds? i am really interested in it and might buy it but before i do i would like to clear up some things.. if i buy just the chip then i have to solder it right? but if i buy the xapt3r then i just plug the chip into the adapter and screw the adapter down to the motherboard? WHat is a good site to buy the chip and the xapt3r from if i live in ontario? well thats all i need to no for now thanx

Yes.
Only if you want to.
Yes.
See reseller list on front page, and check out reseller forum area for complaints/recommendations.

Yes the x3 is as good as everyone says it is.
Yes if you buy the x3 without the xapt3r you will have to solder.( don't worry it's not hard)
Make sure that you know what version of mobo you have. The xapt3r only works on versions 1.0-1.5 mobos. The version for the 1.6 mobos will be out soon.
As for who to order from, well look on the main page at http://www.teamxecuter.com and look at the Office Xecuter Stores list and choose one.:)

should i buy the xapt3r or would it be alot easier to just solder it and save the money?
That really depends on your soldering skills. It's not hard to solder the x3, but it can be a little tricky for ppl without any soldering skills.

You should be fine. IMHO, the pin header install method is better. It's more secure than the other methods of installing.

Yes, If you move your xbox a lot the xapt3r could become misaligned and you will have to open the box and realign it. Now notice that I said COULD. This doesn't mean that it will.

Yes. Soldering is far more secure.
If your brother and dad can solder, get them to teach you. Soldering the LPC is pretty easy, but the Do point can cause some people problems.

Practice soldering on either a radioshack kit project (fm radio or something small like that), and then try soldering to a dead piece of PC hardware (old video card of something). The PC card will have points on it a lot like the Xbox motherboard. You can then practice getting a strong solder connection with risking burning the traces or creating solder bridges.

Soldering isn't that hard. Just take it slowly, don't overheat the motherboard, and keep a steady hand.
