Hi n00b here, I have used the search, google...searched & searched some more..

I've had the mod for 2 days and have yet been able to find any instructions on using the Xecuter 3 mod (everything I find is geared towards installations)

Stuff like how to back up your game to hd and how to copy dvds to hd.

Please any help is appreciated.

Everything you need to know is here, in the forums. A lot of people here get annoyed when you post a question like this because the info you want is already posted about. So in future, read the forums, or you will get flamed. I'm a nice guy though, so I won't flame you.:)

To copy games and stuff, you need to get a dash from xbins, then set up the x3 bios to load it. Evolution X is a good dash.

Ok, I did go over that info for hours last night but some of the guides like
Complete nub's guide to modding
modanxbox 2.zip
are useless to me 'cause I'm using a Mac and can't read the pc files.

That's it then eh?

Just go to xbox-scene.com and read them on the internet.

Reading I have and I will - maybe days / weeks later I'll get to actually use this mod.

Also broke and no $ for OSX and virtual PC

To bad the mod didn't come with a hard manual or make the downloadable n00b guides universal like .pdf?

there are many ftp and irc program's for the mac so you could get started right now you just have to be more resourcful than the pc users

I found the text of one of those xbox-scene downloads I need a PC to read.

http://www.xboxhacker.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=1827&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1 That answered lots.

The fact that I can't ask n00b questions anywhere on the net without replys of how annoying n00b questions are that could easily be found universal attitude. It's not easy to find answers to just the simplest questions without being redirected to some PC dead end link. (re: I use a Mac OS 9)

Just answer one question please:
Q- Can I back up my game disk to my HD without using ftp? ie,. just using a Xecuter 3 modded xbox?

Yeah, that's easy, use pxhddloader or dvd2xbox. PxhddLoader is on evo-x I think.

Download evo-x from xbins, copy to disk, copy from disc to your XBOX hard drive. Go into X3 bios, adjust dashboard settings to launch evo-x. Reboot XBOX, select System Management, Game Management on HD, PxHDDLoader, insert game, press B, press A, wait, take game out.

Then reboot XBOX, select Games on the HD, select your game, press A, play game.

That's the complete instruction list. Hope this helps.:)

Please add to my rep if it does.:D

I'm not sure why VirtualPC was even suggested...you don't need to run a single PC application to set up or use a modded Xbox. Hell, with a dash like Ava that has built in IRC, once you're done with the initial setup you don't even need a computer of any kind.

Windows, Mac, Linux, BeOS, and pretty much any other platform with network support all have IRC and FTP clients, and the .zip file you mentioned earlier only means you need a zip extracting program. I thought Stuffit could handle this, but my only Mac usage in a while is with OS X 10.3, so I'm not entirely sure.

To answer your original question, use dvd2xbox for both game and DVD movie backups.

Be warned, though, that dvd2xbox doesn't convert the DVD movies to MPEG4 or something like that, it just copies them straight from the DVD, so they will be quite large.

Why are Mac users "special"?

FTP is FTP - it was defined in RFC959 back in Oct 85.
IRC is IRC - it was defined in RFC1459 back in May of 93.

Thats the great thing about standards on the internet, there are clearly defined so that regardless of your platform, you can intercommunicate.

Try fetchsoftworks.com for a Mac FTP client.
Try ircle.com or snak.com for Mac IRC clients.

Ditto on Stuffit - latest version does ZIP files as well.

Thanks for the replies,
I have stuffit and it did uncompress the .zip file but that file had no extention so I tried reading it by adding a .txt then a .pdf. ..didn't work.

No matter, I found the link I supplied above which was the file in question.

ureterral, I have other uses for the Xbox besides ripping dvds and games. (neither that I've yet figured out)
For one the codecs in Xecuter 3 allowed me to finally view some movie and music videos cds I couldn't view before on my mac.
I really dig storing my cd collection on the harddrive (I filled up the 5gb E drive of my original HD and new I wanted a larger drive)
When I figure out FTP & or IRC and get a pc to pc ethernet cable I'll transfer some of my huge music video catalogue.

All in all, I actually jam guitar along with my Xbox musically using it as a media playback often more than playing games. :D
