Xecuter Bios Hacked - posted on Alt.b.cd.image.xbox

Someone with the handle "Malcom-x" posted a hacked or supposed hacked version of X3 Bios on the xbox newsgroups a little bit ago.. With this message:

Version which derrives from Team EvolutionX's M8 Unpack tool.

even if they "hack" the bios, they will never be able to use X3 config live on any other modchip because it uses the chip's onboard epprom to do all of the changes.

If they end up making it work on other chips it would be a waste of time because without the extra hardware the X3 bios will never be able to function with more or equal power as the X2 bios.

So, what they are saying, is they have a boot logo ... but no way to get in and control the chip ... and if they did, the underlying hardware wouldn't support it anyway. Proof of concept? These guys are full of crap.

Take a manual car, remove the gear stick. Sure you can start the car, and get it moving forward, but just don't expect to get it out of first without the UI and the hardware to support it.

now me personally, if i was a xenium user, i wouldnt be thinking "weeee, i can use x3's newest bios on my chip!", id be thinking "damn, all this effort to get my modchip behaving like an x3, maybe i should have just bought an x3"

again its clear who the leading team are, you know your good when other people try to (and fail) at ripping off your work, as aposed to writing their own.

i dont see a single person, on any xbox forum in the world, asking/wishing/wanting xenium "os" on their xecuter. lol

Yeah - I agree with you all on this one,
The X3 is a hardware and software 'package'.

Sure they may well get the thing to run on other chips - including the 2.x, even perhaps get to the config live, after all its only software. As for getting full functional use out of it I doubt this will ever happen simply because of hardware.

People will still use it - say if they had a 2.x chip - the ftp side of things would be good for them - disc tools etc.

I know that there are programs that will allow the x2 to do much of what the x3 does, but there will always be ppl who want sh*t for free.

Do I approve? - I DUNNO I guess all is fair in hack and war!

I'll be keeping my X3 and my lovely Control panel though

that newsgroup doesn't seem to exist, and searching groups @ google doesn't return anything. post a link please. i would like to see this hacked bios.

Sure it exists - alt.binaries.cd.image.xbox ... even brain dead Outlook Express on my RoadRunner server can see it

Google doesn't carry binary groups - you need to look at either your ISP, or a subscription server. People get up in arms over p*rn websites - lucky they don't look at binary newsgroups

Only reason this person is pissed is cause they know Xecuter makes great bioses and their chip's (cough: xenium) os needs a bios to actually work.

If Xecuter makes a crappy BIOS, why's everybody trying to hack the X3 BIOS to work on other chips, but not the Xenium OS to work on the X3?

<cringe> ... sorry not a fan of Firefox or Thunderbird. My browser of choice is Opera (also runs as my main FTP, IRC, and RSS client). Email is handled by Outlook. Only thing I am lacking is a decent news reader (as much as I love Opera, the news/email support in it sucks).

I thaught that the X3 BIOS wouldn't boot or show video without the entire LPC being soldered properly. No other modchip uses the higher pins on the LPC so shouldn't the X3 BIOS fail to boot for the sake of a few pins missing on the LPC?
