so Iv'e had my demon duel nand for about 4 months now... just afew days ago I tried to log onto xbox live.. I got a message saying I was banned. Turned out the reason for that is because they detected modifications done to my xbox. But how does this happen? I have a stock nand and the RGH nand.. everything is seperated. Has xbox live figured out how to detect these demons??

Are you running the same hard drive on both sides of the nand?

You have probably been using the same internal drive for both or using the same profile.

You should be using 2 separate drives and 2 different profiles.

The demon has nothing to do with going on live as it boots into the retail kernal.

The other possible cause is you tried going on live with the demon on if live wasn't properly blocked through DL

I have yet to see anyone legitimately banned for not using separate hard drives or profiles. My guess is that you either played Halo 4 on your profile offline then took that same profile online (although seems odd they'd ban the console not the profile) or that your RGH NAND wasn't blocking LIVE properly. Most likely the latter.

That said, if it turns out that it WAS caused by the shared hard drive I will be very interested

i use 2 Hard drives... one for xbox live and the other for RGH. I have not tried going on xbox live with my RGH. When I go to my stock nand I switch hard drives which has my xbox live profile on it. So I was pretty sure I was playing it safe. I did however play halo 4 but that was only on the RGH nand with my RGH hard drive profile. I did the demon install myself.... i never play backups from my console off dvd... I did not flash the firmware just so I would be safe. Either way it doesnt look like I will be able to get this thing unbanned. I will just have to use my spare phat console. It just sucks that I got the demon to have xbox live play and RGH on one console :( ... everyone be very careful!!!

Thats because your so called "Backups"?! were done wrong!. This is not DemoN matter....Thanks & GoodBye!
Good point, it could be a crappy burnt disc he used on the retail side (DemoN side backups should be safe if he's using LT3.0+)

As for some other points of clarification for the thread:
@Disk0, there's no way MS can discriminate based off use of DLC offline. People say the can tell because you've played DLC you haven't bought, but what if you and you played your friend's DLC on his xbox offline at his house, then signed onto your Xbox LIVE console; MS will see the exact same thing (DLC unowned but played) as if you played DLC offline on your RGH.

@OP We don't support piracy here

So you play a leaked copy of a game and get banned. sh*t wait, it can't be because of the game it must be the TX product that's faulty. I'll make a post and complain about that. Dude really. Did not not read your own post through before posting it.

He said it was only played on his hacked nand...
so he should not have been banned from live from that...

Meaning it could be the product at this point but we do not know...

I never play burnt games so that not even a possibility with me. So I can relate to this situation.

That said I have not been banned from live ever and have been using it since it came out.

He should not have said that he played halo 4 though... that's just asking to get banned on here

Firstly he should not have been playing i
Secondly he should never have been playing it on a console that goes on live...stock nand or not
He has earnt his ban..on live and on here
At least he has admitted it though...but still going to get flamed for his stupidity

It still leaves me asking questions... like how could he get banned from playing on the demon... even if it was a legal game that was out and owned by you (as intended) could you get banned for that as well?

Seems to me that there are some questions that I should confirm with this individual before I continue posting.

He probably kept his save game on a storage device common to both nands.
Thats what i thought at first but with him having two hard drives it sounds like he did the internal mem mod and was banned, I messaged him to clarify.

He said he just physically swaps the hdds, so I'm betting he's using a 4gb internal memory unit with common memory, which (I'm betting) he saved Halo 4 saves to. Otherwise, if all he says is true, there's absolutely no way he could be detected. Hdds is different, profile is different, NAND is different, no burnt games. IMO either he's lying about a detail or there's another factor we haven't heard about yet

Agreed, he must have taken liberties with some of the details.
