Just get a fibre glass pen - you can clean all 5 holes up in about 30 seconds. Seriously - its probably the easiest thing you can ever do when fitting a mod.

Re: Xecuter LT Switch - Installation *UPDATED 1/27/2010*

Managed a successful dump from vendor mode on the first go. Happy to offer advice to others who might have any questions before my brain decides to park this experience somewhere else.

Thanks again guys!

Drefsab, i will post a pic shortly, and i ordered that ribbon cable and it doesn't fit. it's not the same one. I ordered one on EBAY that looks like the one i broke so hopefully that will work, if not i don't where the hell else to search because i've looked all over the internet for this damned ribbon cable.

Another problem, i opened the dvd drive and the red cable in the picture is now unattached to the logic board. My dvd drive won't open. How do i fix this? Man, what luck on me. Can i just solder it back on with a little solder?

Re: Xecuter LT Switch - Installation *UPDATED 1/27/2010*

Hi all,
OK, so I got the LT switch. I have cut the 3 trace as instructed and solder the points. When I plug it in to try out, the LED doesn't even light up. I put the switch to normal and put it all back together and the drive is still able to play normal games. A few questions:
1. Which solder point gives power to the LED?
2. What do you suspect I did wrong? (A little specifics would help.)
I read a lot of the questions and responses on this topic. I'm already guessing that the answer to 2 is probably going to be "you cut the traces or solder points incorrectly." Who knows, it might be a faulty switch lol. But thats probably not the case.
Thanks for the help,
AzNBaT

Re: Xecuter LT Switch - Installation *UPDATED 1/27/2010*

I think this tutorial should include the multimeter as a requirement (even though it is obvious that one should test for continuity before proceeding). If the cuts are not properly made then the installer will have to remove the switch again (being a one chance only execution) otherwise there will be complications involved.

I believe the solder point at the top of the switch (the one that touches the power pins) gives the switch power
