Re: Xecuter LT Switch - Installation *UPDATED 1/27/2010*

a bit of help please guys.
just prepping my board before i install the switch but want to make sure iv cut the tracks correctly.
ive cut the top track with 2 cuts fine, ive checked with a continuity tester. however on the other track where you can see in the pic ive gone deep, im still getting a bleep. surely this cant be normal but if i take out any more ill have gone through the board.
any suggestions please.
sorry about the quality, its the best i could get it.

Re: Xecuter LT Switch - Installation *UPDATED 1/27/2010*

try another meter and/or setting. mine was returning positive continuity on the trace with the pad122 initially BUT measuring resistance before and after the cut was -1 (i.e. no connection). then i tested for continuity using a professional meter that beeps and placed before and after the cut. all three cuts should not beep.

having said that, the cut looks pretty deep (probably too deep)

I'm kinda puzzled as to what all the fuss is about regarding very basic and simple trace cutting ?

you cut a piece of the trace out and you're done. This operation isn't limited to fitting this LT Switch - its something you do in electronics a thousand times on a million different projects. Come on guys - get it together :)

Re: Xecuter LT Switch - Installation *UPDATED 1/27/2010*

Hi all,
OK, so I got the LT switch. I have cut the 3 trace as instructed and solder the points. When I plug it in to try out, the LED doesn't even light up. I put the switch to normal and put it all back together and the drive is still able to play normal games. A few questions:
1. Which solder point gives power to the LED?
2. What do you suspect I did wrong? (A little specifics would help.)
I read a lot of the questions and responses on this topic. I'm already guessing that the answer to 2 is probably going to be "you cut the traces or solder points incorrectly." Who knows, it might be a faulty switch lol. But thats probably not the case.
Thanks for the help,
AzNBaT

when i did mine the point closest to the pwer plug gave me trouble with every thing on and lt switch on normal i pushed down on that point and the green light came on

you could do this with all the points untill you get the green light to see where the problem is i would advise you to use flux

hope that helps jr

its hard to tell from the pic but it looks like you may have bridged to the ground

check for connection from the pad to the ground

just a thought jr

Re: Xecuter LT Switch - Installation *UPDATED 1/27/2010*

I've got a serieus problem after installing the LT-switch i got troubles.
First one solderpoint won't make a good contact.
Second after desoldering the LT-switch I have screwed one copper pad. (see picture)
Is this fixable or is my XBOX completely lost?:(
I don't have the drivekey.

Re: Xecuter LT Switch - Installation *UPDATED 1/27/2010*

It doesnt work like that!
It is something you learn through years of modding and electronics!

This is why so many people kill their liteons...
lol i have many years (4) lol
yea but i never had a problem with a pad being disconnected
well time for me to work on learning that

If you desolder like me, and hold the iron a little bit too long on the pad it will leave the pcb.
