Re: Xecuter LT Switch - Installation *UPDATED 1/27/2010*

just like to say thanks to all including this site.
its helped me throughout im many ways.
i installed this switch and flashed my drive first attempt.
p.s. i ignored the beep i was getting on one of the tracks with a meter as i knew it was cut and it didnt cause any problems at all so it must have been too sensitive or something.

Re: Xecuter LT Switch - Installation *UPDATED 1/27/2010*

I have a little problem, I have done a few drives now but after playing 15 mins on one of it. The drive lost it's power. I opened up my 360 and I see the LT switch doens't light up green anymore. Should I resolder it?

Edit: I fixed it by resoldering. So again it's a user mistake.. Thanks team Xecuter!

Yes you will just need to re-solder it, making sure all points are connected. The one nearest the power source is worth doin 1st then try again.

Re: Xecuter LT Switch - Installation *UPDATED 1/27/2010*

hi guys, having a little issue with my setup.

everything is working fine up until #15
when i turn off the ck3(lite) and change switch from green to red, the drive is put into vendor mode fine, once in vendor mode I switch back to green, but the pc freezes up and its only until i power off the ck3 and on again it will unfreeze, the drive seems to be still in vendor mode acording to JF, but each click of the write button tells me "Invalid Status 0x50"

is there something im missing or should be doing, im running xp-sp2 with via card, the install for the switch seemed painless, and changes from green to red when needed, its just the haning pc that im sure is stopping it? or do you think it could be something else?

cheers in advance.. :)

UPDATE !!!!

Just wanted to say, Ive fixed the issue, and managed to get my liteon drive done and sorted :)
fantastic work TX, and all the guys in the forums,,, you all do the community a great service..

Change your power molex plug to a different one.
And change to a different sata cable.
Maybe even a different sata port!
Ensure you are using the primary sata (see this post. http://www.team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52147)

Re: Xecuter LT Switch - Installation *UPDATED 1/27/2010*

Here is a quick list of tips from start to finish :
Detaching the drive cables - These cables are different to your typical cable plugs found in larger devices. It would be wrong to assume they fit like motherboard connector plugs. Instead, the plastic ends are just "locks" which you slide to losen and then the cable slips out from the slot - the plastic ends are not attached to the cable. If you have not seen these cables before, take care when removing them.

You must have multimeter - Regardless of the method you use, you absolutely must check for contuinity. Once the switch goes on top of the PCB, it is not easy go back and re-cut your traces as the switch will obstruct the cut traces.

Cuts - There is no need for deep or wide cuts, thats the whole point of using the multimeter. Use a precision knife like xacto or any cheaper variant. Stanley knifes are too big for the job unless you have experience. Practice cuts on other PCB's and use the multimeter to test points before and after the cut.

Clean only the trace and pads, NOT the ground. There are plenty of diagrams which show people running a lenline/fiberglass pen across the grounded areas which is unecessary. This will actually complicate your soldering. Solder will only stick to areas that have been cleaned, it is actually quite difficult to get solder to stick onto the green area of the PCB even if you try to.

If you are cleaning the pads, use the xacto knife or a jewellery tool set is fine if you are careful enough. Clean the pads till you see copper, if they start to dull and turn silver, that means you probably have gone too far. Again, make sure you only clean area soldering to, if you accidentally cleaned the surrounding area then it will make your soldering job much more difficult.

Some pads have a trace leading up to the pad, for beginners you can clean a bit of the trace area leading to the pad. This will provide you an area to place your iron and heat up the PCB rather than directly heating up the pad (and burning it). The heat will be sufficient to distribute to the pad where you can then apply solder to tin the pad. Apply flux to the pads before you tin them. If you find it difficult to tin the pads, then try a thicker solder wire but adjust the contact time with the iron so you do not apply a huge blob to the board. Solder should never flow outside the pad or the trace to the ground - i.e. there should not be solder on the grounded green area on the PCB. Again, it is actually quite difficult to get solder onto these areas anyway if you prepared the board carefully and not expose these areas.

When flashing it is highly recommended that you connectivity kit - any kit will do as you only need it to power the drive. For the 93450c, do not connect any USB/serial ports to your computer.

Plug your power cable the right way round. There are guide slots on the power cable.

When flashing it is advisable to do at least 2 dumps of your firmware and check your dvd key for save keeping. Follow the jungle flasher tutorial to get into 0x72 vendor mode.

The send outro part of the tutorial does not have a message confirmation - check the new drive properties after you have clicked the button.

Hope that helps.

Edit: removed comment about jungleflasher and V6421 drivers - I was approaching it from a perspective of following the tutorial to the book.

Re: Xecuter LT Switch - Installation *UPDATED 1/27/2010*

LEDs on LT Switch report red/green as usual, but now I get no identity possible and status 0x80. What could be wrong? :(

Edit: okay, now I get into jungleflasher again. however, i am still switching between 0x52/d1/d2/51. Sometimes the PC freezes. is it about timing?

Re: Xecuter LT Switch - Installation *UPDATED 1/27/2010*

Try and obtain drivers VIA6421A 5.3c for jungle flasher. Do not proceed if you have the card detected as 'RAID 3249' - try another PCI slot and/or reinstall the drivers.
I will correct you on this part:

1. You don't need to install ANY drivers when using the VIA Card. In fact the tutorials tell you to disable the drivers all together if you have any installed. It doesn't matter what version.

2. RAID 3249 is actually correct. It has nothing to do with which slot the card is in.

Thanks for your input :)
