My rampage extreme II is pretty much the same as your mobo. My max burner is connected via ICH10R and the motherboard is set to IDE/RAID

Everythings all working nicely.

FYI This is the kind of setup that works for me and others. Its not "Gospel" and is not set in stone. It is meant as a guide to demonstrate that this can be a flawless process. There are so many variables that can effect the end result and as much as we would love to give you a definitive answer - there isn't one. What we do say is stick to Verbatim MIS (Made In Singapore). Once you have great results go from there and go with the process that works best for YOU.

Here is another one - same setup as OP.

This is how the burns look when your setup is correct.

DVD: Liteon iHAS 124-04 B
Motherboard: EVGA Classified X58
SATA: JMicron Onboard ESATA (AHCI Disabled - IDE Mode - Port 8)
OS: Win 7 x64
Driver: SPTI
Media: Verbatim MKM-003 Singapore
Speed: 4x (OPC on)
Smartburn: EEPROM Enabled
Force Hyper Tuning: EEPROM Enabled
Online Hyper Tuning: EEPROM Enabled

All other IMGBURN settings were default

Made sure any SPTD Pass Thru Drivers were uninstalled.

Unloaded apps from memory such as SlySoft AnyDVD and Daemon Tools

IMGBurn Write Time: 27 Mins
Kprobe2 Time: 25 Mins

This time I cleared the OPC history before burn

I also closed down all background processes and didn't touch the PC while burning. The results are slightly better - even though they were awesome in the first place. This one is Forza 4 Disc 1.

Cheap media. You can polish a turd but at the end of the day its still a turd.

And if you are using Verbatim MKM003 and are still getting errors then there are only two answers to that. Either your burner is out of whack or your PC isn't setup optimally - or the more obvious reason - the discs are India / Taiwan Verbatims and they are really poor quality. The problem is a lot of dealers will sell these versions as Singapore - scamming you in the process as you don't know the difference. They cost the trader 25c cheaper PER DISC and there is a good reason for that. I am doing a deal with Verbatim USA where I can get genuine Singapore MKM-003's at good prices for some of our resellers - just so you know you're not getting shafted.

Here is the IMGBURN Log for those who have interest

One thing I did notice is that my drive is set to ATA and not ATAPI (Jmicron onboard Esata port set to NON AHCI/IDE) - maybe that's something to look at ?

Just for those who dont know and are having trouble finding the opc history (I was for one), it is under the advanced liteon settings in imageburn (same place you enable/disable hyper tuning and smart burn)

Out of curiosity i burned a load of AONE's at different speeds/settings but no good burn was possible... All terrible.

We need a thread dedicated to who can achieve the best burn :)
Just managed to burn AonePlus Gold here are my results

Batman Arkham City
AonePlus gold
Burned @ 2.4x (write settings changed with Mediacodespeed edit)
OPC - off
Smartburn - on
Force hypertune - on
Online hypertune - on
Overburn - off

Although I had one spike, Its a very good burn. Plays fine.

That is not a very good burn - your averages are way too high and your second layer looks sh*t.

If that disc has CIV checks towards the end of the second layer your box would be banned and game would be non working by now.

Do not waste our time on these forums if you are not going to follow the advise we give you :(

Date : 28/10/2011 14:07:37
Model : 0-0-0-0 E:
Disc : DVD+R DL , MKM003 [Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation]
Speed : Max
ECC blocks sum (PI/PIF) : 8/1
Scanned range : 0 - 4267022
Sampling count : 249236
Errors : 0
PI Max : 221
PI Average : 59.05
PI Total : 1854734
PIF Max : 6
PIF Average : 0.17
PIF Total : 5237

Not sure why the PI went like that, but when it was scanning it scanned with 5.5x speed rather than 4x and I might burn 4x speed rather than 2.4x, backup of BF3

Hi :)

So, in order to find the better settings, I have reburn 2 of my backups to compare...

Config PC
DVD: Liteon iHAS 124-19 B
Motherboard: Asus P6T Deluxe V2
SATA: Intel ICH10R
OS: Win 7 x64
Driver: SPTI
Media: Verbatim MKM-003 Singapore

Config imgburn
All other IMGBURN settings were default

Process of the tests
N°1
Burn Speed = 2.4x
OPC = disabled
Smartburn = enabled
Force Hyper Tuning = disabled
Online Hyper Tuning = disabled

NB : PC not totaly idle...

Results:
PImax = 51
PIaverage = 2.61
PIFmax = 3
PIFaverage = 0.10

As you can see, not so bad, except maybe the end of the disk...

N°2 - Same iso as n°1
Burn Speed = 4x
OPC = enabled
OPC cleaned before the burn
Smartburn = enabled
Force Hyper Tuning = enabled
Online Hyper Tuning = enabled

NB : PC totally idle

Results:
PImax = 26
PIaverage = 1.47
PIFmax = 5
PIFaverage = 0.13

Except the PIF spike at 5 (damned), this one looks good...

N°3
Burn Speed = 2.4x
OPC = disabled
Smartburn = enabled
Force Hyper Tuning = disabled
Online Hyper Tuning = disabled

NB : PC not totally idle

Results:
PImax = 45
PIaverage = 5.93
PIFmax = 2
PIFaverage = 0.09

For this one, a PIaverage a little to high...

N°4 - Same iso as n°3
Burn Speed = 4x
OPC = enabled
OPC cleaned before the burn
Smartburn = enabled
Force Hyper Tuning = enabled
Online Hyper Tuning = enabled

NB : PC totally idle

Results:
PImax = 26
PIaverage = 2.02
PIFmax = 2
PIFaverage = 0.07

Good burn, not at the top likes Uber's ones, but correct :)

Conclusion of these tests
1 - The 4x - OPC - OHT - FHT - Clean OPC settings looks better than the others
2 - idle the PC seems to be not negligeable
3 - but, finally, even with optimum settings, a part of luck is needed (PIF spike at 5 with recommended settings).

So, maybe some more tests needed to find, for me, the magical ones.

In case of, Uber, :eek: what are you thinking about these 4 results ? Which ones are better, and which ones, eventually, needs to go in the garbage ?
