JTAG Xenon JTAG, no video output after flashing xell reloaded

I have sucessfully dumped my NAND w/ the NAND-X in J-Runner

I then created the xell reloaded, and wrote that to the NAND.

I'm now no longer getting any video output. The first time I booted, the dip switch on the QSB was all the way down, and I got the RRoD 1033, I moved the dipswitch to the middle, and the top, both boot but no video output it displayed.

I tried reverting back to stock, and seeing if that would fix the problem, but I did not want to remove the QSB's, which I believe are the cause of my problem

I did test the console before opening it, and it worked fine.

The dash is 7371, and the CB was 1903

Good thinking Batman.

I don't use video out for XeLL any more, so it's not something I even consider.

OP provided you get the RoL cycle at some point, it's booting XeLL.

Set the switch to 'off' and flash the stock image back.

Is there a specific position the switch should be set to? I do get the RoL cycle when it is in the top and middle position.

I could always, boot up xell, and look in my routers DHCP table for the IP, and get the CPU key that way.

I'll try that method and get back to you guys. I was really beating my head against the wall, my solder joints looked fine, and the only variable I could think of was that dip switch lol

Side note: I did try both the HD and Non-HD hookups when I was trying to boot xell

if u tried both hookups either try router first after it cycles, and if that dont work do as martin suggested, flash orig nand back and make sure it boots, ive never used the qsb so im not even sure on the dip switch settings,im sure martin knows though.

If its stopped booting XeLL then as advised, set the switch to off and flash the stock NAND back. I reckon you have an RRoD console.

The 330/470 switch is to cover the two different resistor values used. If it works on one setting, it's fine to leave it there.

THANK YOU GUYS!!!!

I set the switch to 330, then plugged in the HD cables and hooked up the console. As expected, for whatever reason there was no video output. I logged into my router, went to the DHCP table and saw a newly issued lease. I input that IP in J-Runner, and clicked get CPU key, and BOOM

I am creating and flashing a JTAG 16197 image now

EDIT:

I created/flashed a JTAG 16197 dash, and I am still not getting any video output. (sigh)

I've tested the same cables on a different console, its not them

reverting to stock i guess ? =\

EDIT AGAIN:

I reverted to stock and flipped the switch to OFF, and I am still not getting any video output.

I tested the xbox before I undertook the JTAG, confirmed the dashboard version and everything.

Is it possible for me to have somehow killed the video output during the install? I felt like I was very careful with my soldering iron, but right now I'm a bit confused.

its prolly just a crap timing true rrod, xenons are the worste for that, thier like a ticking timebomb.time for reflow/reball. and tbh,i dont feel thier worth trying to revive, even jtagged, not when we have rgh to do on newer boxes.

yeah, I also bought a 250GB trinity slim w/ 13599 today.

I've managed to fail on two installs this week. A falcon RGH1, which I messed up and ended up with an RGH2 that wouldn't boot, this JTAG, and now I just caught my cool runner on fire.

I hooked my nand-x into my PC, and then hooked the nand-x up to my CR to reprogram. The CR started to smoke and caught on fire.

I had plugged the nand-x into a USB3 port, which has quite a bit more power than USB2

Soooo yeah, I'll be sending my trinity to WNY for the full on Demon/CR install service. If you're gonna do something, might as well do it right :p

heh, well, did ya learn anything? as long as you learned something i guess its money well spent? lol think weve all screwed some stuff up at some point.

This is completely and totally untrue. USB3 is backwards compatible with USB2 and therefore must operate on the same 5v power when a USB2 cable is plugged in. Sounds like you plugged the CR in wrong, or had a knock-off, or any number of other things completely unrelated to the Nand-X, USB3 port, etc.

lol yeah, I definitely got better at soldering =P

Luckily between both xbox's combined I only spent 80$, so its not a devastating financial blow.

Yeah, thats what I thought, but I wasn't sure what was up. It happened so fast, I just went oh sh*t, and unplugged everything...When it rains it pours, am i right?

The nand-x to coolrunner cable can only fit in one way. the left side has 2 prongs, and the right has one (or vice versa, IDR exactly), so you can't even plug it in backwards. I also made sure the red wire hooked up to the VCC pin.

At this point though, I wouldn't be surprised if in my own idiocy I thought I plugged the red into the VCC, but instead had it reversed.

Rest in Pieces
