hi

i'm new to the jtag scene. im well aware of non jtag consoles and its flashing

i recently bought an xbon 360 which has xenon board. its kernel version is 4552, so i think its jtaggable

i want to jtag it with that LPT printer cable method!

can someone please set me in the right direction. i read some articles but i can't fully understand XBR , Xell, freeboot dash etc.
i want to play games off my usb hdd.

after i have dumped the nand then what to do?

thanks

Read this thread a couple of times to understand the overall concept of a JTAG, it gives you step-by-step instructions and also screen-shots. Where it states XBR, substitute that for FreeBOOT (look up fbBuild).

i was doing my research on it and in one of the videos 'xex menu v 1.1.iso' was copied to a cd. And 'freestyle dash', 'dashlaunch v2.23b' and 'xexmunu v1.1' was copied to fat32 usb root directory. some changes were made to 'launch.ini' in the 'dashlaunch' folder.

are these steps correct?

i have a hitachi drive, does it need to be flashed(its on stock)?

Before you boot anything like XeXMenu or FSD, you will need to modify your NAND with a FreeBOOT image. Follow the thread and I am sure it will help you out and get your console up and running :).

i started dumping

it gives me errors while reading nand

i encountered only 2 types of errors

Error: 0 reading block xxx
Error: 80 reading block xxx

should i be worried? is something wrong?
if i get exactly same dumps , it it ok and should i continue then?

i manged to get rid of the errors by using a switching diode.

for the jtag connections; should i use switching diodes or 330 ohm resistors?

i flashed xbr

now to install xex menu

1.is it necessary to burn xex menu iso on to a cd?

2. should the drive be flashed as well?

3. can i use a liteon drive instead of hitachi?

You don't need to burn XeXMenu to a CD, the drive doesn't need to be flashed but you can if you want to, yes but be sure to alter the NAND in Flash Tool to show the new drive brand/model.

alright so i need to flash freeboot?

freeboot and easyboot? are they the same?

how do i do that?
jtag tool-coolshrimp? if yes then in coolshripm 'drive options', what should be my SMC points? (original or aud clamp only or aud clamp and dvd tray )

(i used the lpt method, for the jtag connections im using 2 switching diodes and one jumper)

Original SMC points if it's a Xenon mate ;-)

Everything you need to do is detailed here if you've already done the wiring and nand dumps:
