After 3 days, I finally got my slim rgh done. I went and bought a 2tb external hard drive ready to set everything up and enjoy.

This is going to be a silly, noob question, and I regret asking, but how do I install xexmenu and FSD? I read this goes on the internal HDD and possibly not the one I just bought?

If anyone could help it would be much appreciated:biggrin:

There are a multitude of tutorials out there. Just google "how to install xexmenu to usb". Highly recommend that you put it on your internal HDD/Memory unit.
Once you have xexmenu on there, installing FSD is easy. If you want it to boot into FSD by default you'll need dashlaunch.

I managed to get xexmenu to boot of off my usb stick. Mine is only a 4gb internal. Can I copy the files to that?

I formatted my hard drive to fat32 and xexmenu recognizes it (usb0).

However, when I look for the content folder, 0000000000000000, etc. on the usb stick (usb1) that is plugged in, I don't see it, it only comes up as a XBOX360 folder and in it are files named data 0000,0001,0002 and 0003 and it wont let me copy them to usb0. Am I supposed to partiton a part of my hard drive with the 360?

i made a diy cable

got a sata power and data extension male to female. cut the power cables from 1 side ie red yellow and 2 black and wired these to under the power socket.

ran this through the xbox case to the hard drive port at the top
took the inside connector our of the official xbox hdd shell plugged 1 side of the extension into it then the other side into the hdd and it works as an internal perfectly

OK, cool. But is that why the XBOX360 folder and in it are files named data 0000,0001,0002 and 0003? I thought I was going to see the exact same folders that I put on the flashdrive.

Do I need to partition a part of my 2tb w/the 360 to transfer xexmenu onto it?

no you should be able to partition a small part of your hard drive to an xbox memory device in the nxe, adjust the slider to how much you want then use the nxe to browse your pen drive and tranfer it to the hard drive xbox storage. i've never actually done this with anything but big pen drives but can't see why it wont work.

FSD will either boot from an internal HDD or USB HDD/Memory stick. Dashlaunch takes care of this part, so read the documentation which comes with Dashlaunch.

I've read the instructions a couple of times, but I must be over looking something. I have Freestyle on my harddrive as well as Dashlaunch 2.26.

Folder on my drive is USB0:\Freestyle. I changed the ini file to this:

[QuickLaunchButtons]
BUT_X = Hdd:\Content\0000000000000000\C0DE9999\00080000\C0DE99990F586558
Default = Usb0:\Freestyle\default.xex
[Settings]
nxemini = true
pingpatch = true

I run dashlaunch (default.xex in the folder), go through all the configuration settings, restart the system and it just goes to the regular dash.

1. you don't need to run the default.xex in Dashlaunch EVERY TIME. It's a one-time hit. Once dashlaunch patches are installed to your system (NAND), they stay there until you rebuild a new NAND.

2. It's Usb, not Usb0.
