I just did a RGH on a falcon, it succeeded. I was going away for a while and left the Xbox on, without case and fans so when I got back it had overheated and had 2 rings. Turned it off and it seems alright, the fan do get pretty loud but it isn't that warm. Could something be broken? It turns on as usual, takes about 10 secs to boot. I can boot into Xell, the screen isn't the usual one (blue) it's dark now.

Anyway. I have Xexmenu 1.1 on a disc but it says that it's unrecognized.

Any advice?

y did u leave it on with no fan. you could have messed up the board by doing that. the fan get louder because its speeding up to cool it down. it will be fine once u put it all together. i would 12v the fan though

Yeah, wow, not sure why you would have let your console run without that fan plugged in. Doesn't make much sense to me but let us know how it turns out when you plug everything back in.

I forgot about it when I left.

It's running now but I still got the problem with Xexmenu. It shows up as Unrecognized Disc. The Xbox boots as usual, takes about 10 secs but it boots to the dashboard. Can't see if it flash green light through the case but I guess it works as the box turns on?

When I turn it on, it flashes green one or a few times then I see the Xbox 360 logo. After a few seconds I get into the dashboard.

if its booting to the dash then it sounds fine. try using the live or xex version of xexmenu

Which firmware do you have on your dvd drive?
original will not read it...
and why is that? works a treat in two of the RGH's i've got here, tested 3mins ago. both are jaspers with liteon 0251/93450 original FW (never flashed)

edit: yes indeed the orig FW did NOT read it, tried again since frazzeld said it read mixed media disc but this time without the hdd atached. when i first tried, i foolishly put the disc in and went to games and found it under demos, but GOD DAMMIT i already had it instaled to the hdd!

Did you burn the disc as DVD format or like USB flash style could make all the difference would need to be burned as an ISO DVD style to play the DVD demo? Just a thought

ok, dude did you leave the xexmenu disc in the xbox? because the xbox gets really hot when left on, VERY hot even with a fan. You could have burt the living sh*t out of it. Youre even lucky it still works

It's was flashed but I updated from a pretty old dashboard to the 14699 so I guess it's back on stock.

reads as Mixed Media
What do you mean?

Im pretty sure it's burned with the .ISO file. I have used it on another xbox and it worked then.

Im not sure if it was in the xbox or not.

An update.

I tested with another hdd with xexmenu installed and it launched xexmenu and FSD alright. However, the temps seem really high. The Memory is above 70c, the GPU is about 60c. That must be over normal? The fan is on auto and increases. The box is however just about 30c. I guess I need to change the thermal paste.

I had a similar thing with a xenon and falcon removed the heat sinks and cleaned the chips and heatsinks, put new thermal paste one and all well now worth a try espcaly as the standard paste get realy had and less thermal conductive

Thanks for all replies!

I changed the thermal paste and used screws instead of the x clamps. The temps seem to be better, especially on the CPU and the GPU.

I burned a new dvd with xexmenu.iso and its working now.

All fixed!
