Hi All,

Having just reflashed my friends ms28 to LT2.0, i burned a backup of both Driver and Gow3 using clonecd as imgburn threw errors at 48% twice.

Both discs burned fine with Clonecd until i attempted to play, Driver showed up in the menu got to main menu but then threw up disc unreadable error, then it wouldnt even load, just a black screen then the same error came up.
Gow3 wouldnt even load and threw same error but this time gave status code 01-80-00.

NOt sure if its the discs or the burner, pretty sure its not the xbox but some advise would be handy.

I used arita dl discs from mod-traders and have had no problems with xgd2 games, just wondered has anyone else had trouble with these discs and xgd3 games ?:D:D

Thanks for the replies, i kinda thought the same myself but ive tried numerous back ups burned recently and had no problem with any of them.
I just use the bd burner i have in my laptop to burn them.
If this is not suitable for xgd3 discs can anyone recommend somewhere to buy a good burner from ?

Thanks again

c4eva said LG burners have problems with the layer break i guess others may aswell,
mine is a LABELFLASH and it works perfectly, ebay looks like the best deal for a burner.

Would it be possible in your situation to set the layerbreak at 2086912? Instead of relying on imgburn or clonecd just do it yourself manually

Just trying to find a pioneer 111d or 112d no joy.

Can anyone reccommend a suitable external burner for xgd3 or somewhere to get a pioneer from?

have to add the sammy drive I got is struggling to play the xgd3 backups but the liteon I have has no problems at all. However I did notice on the liteon that the GOW3 back I was using had and error pop up after the game loaded and was playing the popup said this disc failed to authenticate I was connected to live at the time so I dunno if its a flagg on that console now been hunting around and not found anyone else to have had this problem. It stopped however after I installed to the hard drive.

when u ripped the file with xbc did u have the dae.bin file in the folder? since ur on a laptop id try and get a decent external dvd drive, laptops have crappy dvd burners in them.

personally id go with a plextor or hp.

I also have a Samsung ms28 and also Arita DL's. Recently i burned the latest Deus Ex, it runs fine on lt+ 2.0 but when i try to play Gears Of War 3 i get the same read error. So far no luck..

Maybe the POT calibration trick will do?

@Diaboliq20, when i install GoW3 to hdd it works fine. Only when i want to play it still requires the DVD.

Pot tweak should be a last resort. The flag I see is that it was tossing errors at 48% which isn't even at the layerbreak quite yet.

My suggestion is to try again with imgburn as the new one will allow truncation of the image (not physically) and burn the disc properly through without the annoying popup errors that are normal. Just make sure you make a notepad file named .dvd with the layerbreak and image name in it, if your unsure there is posts about it.

I've yet to have a problem - I'm using TssTCorp DVD super multi's and haven't had a single burn issue yet, same with the ASUS Super multi in my other computer and my Lite-on super multi in my third computer.

Also, if you install to HDD it only needs the disc 'in' for authentication purposes

2.5.6.0 is the newest imgburn which is what I was talking about. And yes, blackmamba22, you want to burn at the slowest possible. For me its 4x, it just allows the laser to engrave the disc data better since its not running at 5000 rpm, lol.

I also like Verbatim's but have been using Memorex and had 0 issues with them as well.
