Am getting more discs today so will try another this evening with the new imgburn and see how that works.

Lads thanks for all the input youve given me lots to go on as always, will report back later and hopefully will have the issue sorted

I recently ordered samsung slim external dvd writer after my dell laptop burner stopped working. Working great so far, burned four games in clone cd without any problems. and the funny thing is, the majority of my discs (around 45) were burned in a laptop burner and now in external burner and not one i've got a bad disc. Might wanna get your console drive checked :)

ok so just back from a visit to my guy JONNY2GOOD down in Limerick who was doing a reflow on another console for me ( Thanks again !!!) and we tested GOW3 from a back up of the original he has worked no problem without installing to HDD. I then got home tried the same back up disc in the one giving me problems and guess what???, no problem booting or playing.

Now heres the strange thing i then tried the back up of driver giving issues in first xbox and it booted and played no problem ( didnt reckon too much to the game by the way!! ) and so did the back up of rise of nightmares. So will wait till i get new discs and try another copy, but as Johnny suggested maybe the laser in the drive is not tiptop.

Either way ill try the fresh back up when i get discs and hopefully get them working.

I'm in this same situation, sort of.

when i spoof it, i don't get e66, it simply doesn't recognize the game.

when i don't spoof it, it recognizes the game, but says unreadable upon booting, and installation to hard drive stops at 50%-60% with a read error.

is it at all possible to play xgd3 games with a samsung drive on an xbox that originally had a liteon?

spoofing is in no way supported in the new LT+2.0 fw and will flag u and stop games from booting.....you can no longer spoof drives - u need the original drive in the machine

by "games" you mean only xgd3 games right? cause i can play others just fine.

and i'm not spoofing it, i'm doing some other method in which in which i click manual spoof, and i load the key.bin in the cfw without actually spoofing it as a liteon drive.

although i'm pretty new at this and i might not make sense...sorry.

lol - no worries.....if u are using say a sammy in a machine that is supposed to have a liteon in it, then that is spoofing.....if u have flashed it as anything other than a liteon, then that is plain wrong lol

i messed up my lite on in the process of flashing it. smoke came out a couple times, everything seemed fine and the flash was successful, but the xbox wouldn't recognize the drive anymore and the drive wouldn't spin nor eject nor the laser turn on though the flashing went fine.

and all i have is this samsung drive from another xbox that got rrod. and i can't really afford another liteon at the moment. so it was pretty much my only choice

why is it "wrong" to do it? i mean i can play other games non-xgd3 just fine...though i know i'll get banned if i get online.

i think it all boils down to the strength of the disc laser. weaker lasers read verbs easier.

Verbatim are high quality CD/DVD's and the dye makes them easier to read. However, if you burn at a slower speed it will also make it burn in the data better which allows lasers to also read easier. Lite-on burners are cheap and will make the process of burning them better since they are quality.

okay, well i pot tweaked my drive to the optimal amount, around 4k ohms, it was at 10kohms, wtf... and gears 3 installed all the way and now it reads all my games just fine. except, EVEN THOUGH gears 3 installed fine, i get an unreadable disc error when attempting to boot it...

still have a spoofed drive don't you...think the issue is due to ap2.5/6 checks which aren't supported with spoofed drives !
